Make a Difference in a Specialized Rehabilitation Hospital

Methodist Rehabilitation is seeking a PRN Hospital Pharmacist to join our patient-centered healthcare team. This is an opportunity to use your clinical pharmacy expertise in a specialized physical rehabilitation hospital where pharmacists work alongside physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support safe and effective medication therapy.

Our patients include adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients recovering from conditions such as stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, and other disabling conditions.

What You'll Do

Prepare and dispense oral, IV, sterile, and other medications according to physician orders and pharmacy protocols
Review medication orders for appropriate dosing, allergies, contraindications, interactions, and therapeutic duplication
Monitor patient medication therapy and make recommendations to promote safe and effective treatment
Provide clinical drug information and medication consultations to physicians, nurses, patients, and families
Assist with pharmacokinetic monitoring and medication dosing
Review culture and susceptibility results and recommend appropriate antibiotic therapy
Identify and report suspected adverse drug reactions and medication errors
Support safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication use
Supervise and provide direction to pharmacy technicians and support personnel
Maintain medication inventory and assist with automated dispensing cabinets
Participate in quality improvement, medication-use evaluations, staff education, and pharmacy operations
Assist with pharmacy coverage after hours, weekends, and when the Pharmacy Director is unavailable

Schedule

PRN - 8 to 16 hours per pay period
8:00 am - 5:00 pm weekdays
May include ON CALL rotating every third weekend 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Qualifications:
Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS in Pharmacy or PharmD
Current licensure with the Mississippi State Board of Pharmacy
Health-system experience preferred, but not required
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacy staff, and other healthcare professionals
Ability to adapt to changing workloads and priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment
