Position Overview

Rx Route is seeking experienced Staff Pharmacists for full-time and part-time onsite positions at our pharmacy operations in Tomball, Texas.

The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for the safe, accurate, compliant, and efficient execution of pharmacy operations. Working under the direction and oversight of the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC), this position plays a critical role in prescription verification, compounding oversight, quality assurance, workflow execution, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

The successful candidate will exercise sound professional judgment, maintain a high standard of accuracy and compliance, and contribute to the development of safe, scalable, and efficient pharmacy operations.

This is an onsite, hourly position in a fast-paced pharmacy and fulfillment environment. Both full-time and part-time schedules are available.

Key Responsibilities

• Prescription Verification & Patient Safety
• Review and verify prescriptions for legality, accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness.
• Confirm the correct patient, medication, strength, dosage form, quantity, directions, and labeling.
• Identify and resolve medication errors, interactions, inconsistencies, and other potential safety concerns before dispensing.
• Perform final pharmacist verification prior to product release in accordance with applicable law and pharmacy procedures.
• Maintain the highest standards of patient safety, dispensing accuracy, and professional judgment.
• Promptly escalate clinical concerns or situations requiring additional professional review.

Regulatory Compliance & Professional Practice

• Practice pharmacy in accordance with applicable federal and Texas laws, regulations, and professional standards.
• Follow Rx Route SOPs, policies, quality systems, and operational procedures.
• Identify and promptly escalate compliance risks, operational deviations, and potential violations.
• Support pharmacy inspection, audit, and regulatory readiness.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and professional documentation.
• Stay current with applicable pharmacy practice requirements and organizational policies.
• Technician Supervision & Workflow Support
• Provide professional supervision and direction to pharmacy technicians and interns within the applicable legal scope of practice.
• Ensure pharmacy support staff follow applicable policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
• Support efficient pharmacy workflow while maintaining patient safety, quality, and compliance.
• Assist with prescription production, verification workflow, and operational coordination as needed.
• Support training, onboarding, competency development, and workforce development initiatives.
• Communicate workflow issues and resource needs to the PIC and appropriate operations leadership.
• Quality Assurance & Error Prevention
• Identify, document, and report medication errors, near misses, and quality events.
• Participate in quality improvement and medication-error prevention initiatives.
• Support root-cause analysis, corrective actions, retraining, and process improvements.
• Assist with CAPA and Plan of Correction (POC) activities when necessary.
• Promote a culture of quality, accountability, continuous improvement, and patient safety.
• Documentation & Record Integrity
• Maintain accurate and complete pharmacy records, verification logs, and required documentation.
• Complete required documentation accurately and in real time.
• Maintain audit-ready records and support inspection readiness.
• Protect the integrity, confidentiality, and traceability of pharmacy records.
• Support documentation and traceability throughout prescription, compounding, and fulfillment workflows.
• Collaboration & Operational Support
• Collaborate with the PIC, APIC, Training & Development, Operations, Fulfillment, and other pharmacy leadership teams.
• Provide professional input regarding workflow optimization, quality improvement, and process development.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency without compromising patient safety or regulatory compliance.
• Support operational scaling, process development, and organizational growth initiatives.
• Communicate effectively across clinical, pharmacy operations, fulfillment, and leadership functions.

Professional Authority & Scope

The Staff Pharmacist performs assigned professional duties under the direction and oversight of the Pharmacist-in-Charge and in accordance with applicable law, pharmacy policies, SOPs, and established procedures.

Within the applicable legal and organizational scope, the Staff Pharmacist is responsible for:

• Prescription verification and final pharmacist review.
• Professional supervision of pharmacy technicians and interns.
• Exercise of independent professional judgment in the performance of assigned pharmacist duties.
• Identification and escalation of patient safety, quality, regulatory, and operational concerns.
• The Staff Pharmacist does not assume the responsibilities or authority assigned by law to the Pharmacist-in-Charge. Matters involving patient safety, regulatory compliance, significant operational risk, or issues outside the pharmacist's assigned authority must be promptly escalated to the PIC or appropriate leadership.

Required Qualifications

• Active pharmacist license in good standing with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
• Eligible to practice pharmacy in the State of Texas.
• Prior pharmacist experience; 2+ years preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of:
• Texas pharmacy laws and regulations.
• Applicable USP <795>, <797>, and <800> standards.
• HIPAA and patient privacy requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound professional judgment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced pharmacy and fulfillment environment.
• Ability to work onsite in Tomball, Texas.
• Ability to meet the scheduling requirements of the position, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with high-volume prescription fulfillment or pharmacy operations.
• Experience in a compounding pharmacy environment.
• Experience with sterile and/or nonsterile compounding, as applicable to the pharmacy's operations.
• Experience with pharmacy quality assurance programs, audits, inspections, or accreditation processes.
• Familiarity with pharmacy management systems and technology-enabled fulfillment workflows.
• Experience participating in process improvement, CAPA, root-cause analysis, or medication-error prevention initiatives.
• Experience training or supervising pharmacy technicians and interns.

Schedule & Work Environment

This is an onsite, hourly position in Tomball, Texas, with full-time and part-time scheduling options available.

Schedules may vary based on pharmacy operating hours, employee availability, and business needs. Available shifts may include:

• Day shifts
• Evening shifts
• Weekend shifts
• Holiday shifts, as operationally required

Specific hours and scheduling expectations will be discussed during the interview and hiring process.

The Staff Pharmacist will work in a pharmacy and fulfillment environment that may require extended periods of standing, frequent movement throughout the pharmacy, and the ability to maintain accuracy and focus in a high-volume operational setting.

Because this is an hourly, non-exempt position, employees will be paid for all hours worked and overtime will be handled in accordance with applicable federal and state law and company policy.
