Position Type: Part-time Regular (Maximum 29 hours per week)
Job Summary
The Staff II, Front Desk position is responsible for providing useful support and information to patrons regarding all recreation programs and uniform administrative assistance.
Minimum Qualifications
- 16 years of age or older.
- Have or obtain CPR and First Aid certifications within four (4) weeks of hire.
The successful applicant must pass a required pre-employment background check and subsequent mandatory background checks in accordance with current District policy requirements.
Preferred but not required:
- Customer service experience.
- Knowledge of related sports and activities associated with the Fieldhouse.
Essential Functions
The following duties and responsibilities are intended to be representative of the work performed by the incumbent(s) in this position and are not all-inclusive. - Assist customers in a polite and professional manner.
- Maintain a working knowledge of ongoing Fieldhouse and recreation activities.
- Communicate District policies regarding memberships, front desk procedures, and facility use.
- Direct people, calls, and messages to appropriate departments if unable to supply necessary information.
- Collect payments from customers for all recreation and Fieldhouse programs.
- Register customers for classes, passes, and programs; issue proper receipts.
- Monitor and record equipment rentals and returns.
- Open, close, and secure the Fieldhouse.
- Assist with the set up and take down of Fieldhouse offerings and parties.
- Fill out paperwork and balance transactions.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of:
- Computers and Microsoft Office applications.
- Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
Skill and Ability to:
- Handle cash appropriately per District policy.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Work with the public in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
- Learn new activities and all sports associated with the District.
- Exhibit sound judgment and integrity; accept guidance willingly.
Working Conditions and Aptitudes
- Duties primarily performed in a public setting, requiring constant interaction with a variety of people.
- Work effectively with crowds and uncooperative individuals during difficult situations, emergencies, or periods of continuous demand.
- Exposure to frequent noises and interruptions.
- Work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays depending on program needs.
- This position is ineligible for remote work. Essential duties cannot be completed without being physically present.

We also operate an 87,000 square-foot indoor fieldhouse facility that serves over 265,000 visitors a year. Additionally, Basin Recreation owns and operates several outdoor park facilities, which include bike parks, a skate park, groomed cross-country trails, sports facilities, ponds, community areas, and dog parks. Finally, the District manages popular recreation programs, fitness classes, camps, and community events that have grown without pause over the last decade to serve the residents in the area.
