Staff Forward Deployed Engineer, Technology Lead

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Forward Deployed Engineer, Technology Lead based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to lead a forward-deployed technical team delivering AI-powered operational transformation within healthcare environments.
You’ll lead a five-person team embedded with a client, combining technical depth, creative problem-solving, and customer empathy to solve complex operational challenges.
Your work will focus on designing, implementing, and optimizing bespoke AI workflows that generate measurable value for healthcare organizations.
You’ll work directly with client executives, operational leaders, IT teams, and end users while partnering closely with internal architects, engineers, and data scientists.
The role provides significant influence over conversational AI capabilities, including LLM integrations, agentic systems, workflow design, and enterprise integrations.
You’ll operate in a highly autonomous, rapidly evolving environment where experimentation, iteration, and real-world user feedback shape solutions.

Accountabilities:

• Lead a five-person forward-deployed team working directly with client stakeholders to deliver AI-powered operational transformation.
• Develop a deep understanding of client environments, workflows, and challenges to identify high-impact opportunities for bespoke AI solutions.
• Design, implement, execute, and continuously optimize AI-powered operational assistant use cases tailored to client needs.
• Build advanced conversational systems using leading LLM technologies such as GPT, Claude, Gemini, and LLaMA.
• Apply agentic frameworks, prompt engineering, and conversation modeling techniques including state machines, decision trees, and graph-based workflows.
• Integrate AI agents with APIs, CRMs, enterprise systems, and other client technology environments in collaboration with backend engineering teams.
• Extend AI functionality through custom scripts, API calls, and external system integrations.
• Continuously tune AI agents using real-world user data and resolve breakdowns, mismatches, fallback issues, and other performance challenges.
• Develop and execute unit, regression, and A/B testing strategies to evaluate and improve conversational performance.
• Implement monitoring, analytics, and logging capabilities to identify performance trends and inform optimization.
• Partner with AI solution consultants, architects, engineers, data scientists, and client teams to define and refine product requirements.
• Work closely with software engineers and data scientists to improve LLM integration, agent behavior, and system performance.
• Document conversation logic, prompt structures, decision workflows, and technical approaches to support scalability and maintainability.
• Mentor and support cross-functional teammates while promoting strong technical and delivery practices across the forward-deployed team.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional experience with a proven track record in product management, solution architecture, or closely related technical roles.
• Strong hands-on experience with agentic AI design, prompt engineering, and AI architecture.
• Demonstrated programming proficiency in Python, Java, C++, TypeScript/JavaScript, or a comparable language.
• Strong understanding of emerging LLM technologies and their practical application in production environments.
• Experience designing and troubleshooting complex technical systems with a high degree of independence.
• Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with executives, technical teams, operational stakeholders, and end users.
• High customer empathy and a demonstrated passion for solving meaningful real-world problems.
• Ability to operate autonomously and take ownership in a rapidly changing environment with evolving objectives and iterative user feedback.
• Proven ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
• Willingness and ability to travel to client sites as needed, with expected travel of approximately 25–50%.
• Experience with voice-enabled conversational AI systems is a plus.
• Knowledge of vector databases, embeddings, and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) is a plus.
• Experience applying knowledge graphs within AI agent workflows is advantageous.
• Experience building AI agents or automated workflows in healthcare or other regulated industries is a plus.
• Background in healthcare operations, medicine, and/or healthcare finance is beneficial.
