Staff Engineer (Platform)

In this role, you will help shape the technical direction of core platform services while collaborating across engineering, product, and infrastructure teams. You will play a key role in driving architectural decisions, improving developer productivity, and enabling business growth through robust technology solutions. Accountabilities:

• Design and evolve scalable, maintainable, and secure platform architectures that support long-term business and technical objectives.
• Develop backend services and distributed applications using modern programming languages and functional programming principles.
• Lead platform-wide initiatives aimed at improving reliability, scalability, performance, security, and developer experience.
• Architect, containerize, deploy, and maintain cloud-native services using technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure platforms.
• Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, infrastructure automation, and operational best practices.
• Apply security-first engineering principles, including secure coding practices, secrets management, vulnerability mitigation, and infrastructure protection.
• Drive performance analysis, system optimization, test automation, and reliability improvements across critical services.
• Integrate and manage third-party services and APIs while ensuring operational excellence and observability.
• Explore opportunities to incorporate AI and machine learning capabilities into platform solutions and workflows.
• Serve as a technical mentor and subject matter expert, guiding engineers, influencing architecture decisions, and elevating engineering standards across teams.
• Collaborate closely with product leaders, engineers, and stakeholders to define requirements, troubleshoot complex issues, and deliver impactful solutions.
• Research emerging technologies and advocate for innovations that improve platform capabilities and create business value.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant expertise in distributed systems, platform engineering, and large-scale architecture design.
• Strong proficiency in typed and functional programming languages such as C#, TypeScript, Haskell, Scala, or comparable technologies.
• Deep understanding of software architecture principles, including secure, scalable, and maintainable system design.
• Extensive experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases, with strong knowledge of PostgreSQL preferred.
• Proven expertise with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, or equivalent cloud-native technologies and infrastructure platforms.
• Strong knowledge of DevOps methodologies, including CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, Infrastructure as Code, and automation practices.
• Experience implementing application and infrastructure security best practices across development and operational environments.
• Demonstrated success in performance optimization, scalability improvements, testing strategies, and system reliability initiatives.
• Experience integrating, monitoring, and managing third-party APIs and external services.
• Interest or hands-on experience with AI and machine learning technologies in production environments.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity while making sound technical decisions.
• Proven mentoring and leadership capabilities, with a track record of helping engineers grow and increasing overall team effectiveness.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
