Sr Software Engineer, PLM Platform

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr Software Engineer, PLM Platform based in United States.

This is a hands-on senior individual-contributor role focused on the technical layer surrounding a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platform. You’ll build and operate backend services, integrations, automation, and custom extensions connecting PLM with ERP, analytics, ECAD, and other enterprise systems. The role offers end-to-end ownership, from architecture and development through CI/CD, Kubernetes deployment, observability, and production support. You’ll work in a cloud-native environment with a strong emphasis on reliable APIs, enterprise integrations, automation, and operational excellence. The position is well suited to a production-minded backend engineer who enjoys solving complex integration and platform challenges. You’ll also have opportunities to contribute to modernizing legacy applications while maintaining stability and performance in production.

Accountabilities:

• Design, develop, and support production-grade backend services, integrations, automation, and custom PLM platform extensions.
• Build and maintain integrations between PLM and ERP, analytics, ECAD, and other downstream enterprise systems.
• Own solutions across the full engineering lifecycle, including architecture, coding, automated testing, CI/CD, deployment, observability, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Develop and maintain REST APIs with robust handling of pagination, retries, idempotency, partial failures, OAuth 2.0, and OpenID Connect/OIDC.
• Deploy and operate containerized workloads using Kubernetes, including hands-on troubleshooting of production environments.
• Manage infrastructure and delivery pipelines using infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD technologies such as Bicep, Terraform, ARM, Azure DevOps Pipelines, or comparable tools.
• Apply strong software design practices, including established design patterns and SOLID principles, to create maintainable and scalable solutions.
• Implement production telemetry and observability using tools such as OpenTelemetry, Application Insights, Grafana, or similar technologies.
• Contribute to the modernization of legacy applications while maintaining production stability and operational continuity.
• Create clear design notes, runbooks, engineering documentation, and other technical materials.
• Support product-engineering processes involving product definitions, bills of materials (BOMs), engineering changes, and release management.
• Explore and use AI-assisted engineering tools to improve development, debugging, testing, and documentation workflows.

Requirements

• 11+ years of experience building and supporting production backend software.
• Strong expertise in modern backend development, with C#/.NET preferred. Experienced Java, Go, or Kotlin engineers may also be considered if willing to work with C#/.NET.
• Hands-on cloud-native engineering experience, preferably with Microsoft Azure; AWS or GCP experience is also relevant.
• Proven experience working with containers and Kubernetes, including real-world production troubleshooting.
• Strong enterprise API and integration experience, particularly with REST APIs, API reliability patterns, OAuth 2.0, and OpenID Connect/OIDC.
• Experience with both relational and document-oriented data modeling.
• Experience owning infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD processes using technologies such as Bicep, Terraform, ARM, Azure DevOps Pipelines, or equivalent tools.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns, SOLID principles, automated testing, production telemetry, troubleshooting, and operational ownership.
• Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear design documentation, runbooks, and engineering notes.
• Interest in product-engineering environments and concepts such as product definitions, BOMs, engineering changes, and release processes.
• Experience with PLM, PDM, ERP, CAD, or other engineering systems is preferred.
• PTC Windchill experience is a strong advantage, although direct PLM experience is not mandatory.
• Experience with message-driven architectures and services such as Azure Service Bus, Event Hubs, or Event Grid is beneficial.
• Familiarity with observability platforms such as OpenTelemetry, Application Insights, or Grafana is a plus.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications while maintaining production reliability is valued.
• Ability to work independently as a senior technical contributor while taking ownership of complex engineering solutions.

Benefits

• USD $68–$72 per hour.
