General Summary
Under the supervision of the Senior Programs Director, performs household and maintenance tasks at the homes of eligible senior citizens. Mows and trims, wash windows, walls and ceilings and assists in other maintenance and construction activities. Schedules clients for service, maintains calendar, and maintains daily activity records. Provides social contacts with seniors.
Essential Functions
Performs household maintenance tasks including yard work, snow removal, lawn trimming, minor household repairs, seasonal maintenance tasks such as installing weather stripping, screens, or storm windows, installing safety grab bars, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors inside the home, and strenuous cleaning activities. Also does minor repairs to fences, decks, stairs, and cabinets on seniors’ property.
Collects and submits all donations, completes required paperwork, and distributes receipts as directed.
Provides social contact with seniors in a courteous manner; observes clients, noting any unusual behavior, incoherent speech, complexion changes or other conditions and reports concerns immediately to the supervisor.
Maintains daily client records of services provided. Prepares other reports or records as required by the funding source.
Maintains assigned equipment such as grease and oil changes, sharpening blades and ensuring safety and cleanliness of equipment.
Work with and assist others in the Senior Activities Program as assigned.
Inspect truck, tractor, and other tools used in the process of aiding seniors.

Education: High school graduation, or equivalent experience. General knowledge of household maintenance and repairs desirable.
Experience: Prefer some experience working with older adults.
Qualifications:
Ability to communicate effectively orally and written.
Knowledge of maintenance equipment and procedures.
Knowledge of senior department structure, services and policies.
Knowledge of financial rules, regulations, laws and procedures.
Skill in basic carpentry and exact measurements.
Skill in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Skill in precision mowing and trimming of lawns.
Skill in performing construction related jobs.
Other Requirements: Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license.
