Summary

The Sr. Manager, Clinical Innovation leads enterprise-wide strategic initiatives from concept through implementation to improve patient outcomes and financial performance. This role involves managing vendor relationships, driving stakeholder alignment, and utilizing data analytics to optimize clinical programs.

Job Description

Your Opportunity

The Sr. Manager, Clinical Innovation advances that mission directly: this high-impact position will own launching and managing new clinical programs that enhance patient outcomes, improve care coordination, and meet financial performance targets. You will drive a small portfolio of concurrent programs from concept to launch.

As “Founder & CEO” of these programs, you will own concept and business case development, buy-vs-build determination, execution model design and implementation, and management through transition to scaled operations. You will work in close partnership with the Clinical Services and Performance, Product & Engineering, Market Leadership, Analytics, Legal, and Finance teams. This is a role where creativity and initiative are valued and rewarded. You will be held accountable to program KPIs and targets, with the understanding that setbacks and pivots are part of innovation.

The Sr. Manager, Clinical Innovation will report to the VP of Clinical Innovation and sit within the VBC business unit, which is responsible for P&L performance of all VBC activities at Vytalize.

The ideal candidate is a “strategic operator” capable of switching between 30K feet and day-to-day task management, and thrives in unstructured, ambiguous, and rapidly changing environments. This requires strong business acumen, exceptional problem-solving skills, a strong work ethic, a high degree of intellectual horsepower, and a passion for improving healthcare delivery through innovation, technology, and operational excellence. You reason from first principles and learn unfamiliar domains quickly. You see programs as systems — interacting clinical, financial, operational, and technology levers rather than isolated workstreams. As Vytalize’s programs increasingly blend with technology products, this role requires comfort operating at the intersection of clinical operations and product development. The ability to rapidly ascend the AI learning curve is table stakes.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Program Leadership

  • Lead strategy, oversight, and performance management of a portfolio of enterprise initiatives

  • Facilitate concept vetting and development sessions, synthesize and drive actions/follow ups.

  • Drive stakeholder alignment and executive decision-making.

  • Build rollout and adoption plans for new programs, including stakeholder communications, training materials, go-live support, and post-launch feedback loops.

  • Develop and communicate business requirements with cross-functional internal stakeholders

  • Manage day-to-day project tasks, driving execution of business priorities, and providing clear, ongoing communication on status, risks, and dependencies.

  • Maintain project/product roadmaps, tracking tools, and governance structures

  • Prepare status update templates and reports for internal and external communications, including Monthly Business Reviews, ACO Board report outs, and Board decks.

Change Management/Operational Excellence

  • Develop initiative playbooks, communication plans, and change management strategies.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and business outcomes.

  • Identify opportunities to improve, scale, and optimize programs and operational processes

  • Drive process improvement and organizational effectiveness initiatives.

Analysis

  • Analyze data from a variety of sources, including large and complex clinical, operational, financial, and business datasets, to support strategy and programmatic decisions and recommendations.

  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations.

  • Develop operational, financial, forecasting, and scenario models to support strategic decision-making.

  • Build compelling executive presentations and business cases.

Vendor Management

  • Serve as primary point of contact for vendors across the Clinical Innovation portfolio.

  • Monitor vendor performance against contracted KPIs and SLAs; maintain scorecards and run recurring performance reviews.

  • Support contracting and renewal activity — document scope, statements of work, KPIs/SLAs, and payment structures; partner with Legal, Finance, and Compliance through review cycles.

  • Manage vendor onboarding and offboarding, including implementation planning, access and compliance requirements, and transition of in-flight work.

  • Track and escalate vendor risk; validate invoices against delivery and ensure timely payment processing.

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s Degree

Experience

  • 5-8 years of professional experience, including 2-3 years in the healthcare industry.

  • Experience managing large-scale, complex programs or projects.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities, including financial modeling, forecasting, KPI development, business case creation, and scenario modeling.

  • Effective communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience applying AI, automation, predictive analytics, or emerging technologies to solve business challenges and improve operational performance.

  • Experience working in high-growth, fast-paced environments.

  • Intellectual curiosity and fast learning: builds working fluency in unfamiliar domains within weeks, not quarters.

  • Systems thinking: maps how clinical, financial, operational, and technology components interact, and designs programs around those dynamics.

  • First-principles reasoning: decomposes ambiguous problems to fundamentals

  • Bias to action: defaults to running small, fast experiments over extended analysis; ships and iterates.

  • Resourcefulness: finds a path with the resources at hand rather than waiting for ideal conditions, headcount, or permission.

  • Humility and rolled-up sleeves: no task is below them — builds the deck, cleans the data, makes the calls, and does the unglamorous work that launching requires.

  • Extreme ownership: treats program outcomes as personal outcomes, including obstacles that sit outside direct control.

  • Sells the vision: builds the investment case that wins executive budget, and earns genuine enrollment from internal teams and practice partners — influence without formal authority.

  • Practical proficiency with LLM-based AI tools for documentation, synthesis, and analysis acceleration.

Skills & Competencies

  • Practical proficiency with LLM-based AI tools for documentation, synthesis, and analysis acceleration.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in relevant fields (MHA, MPH, MBA, etc.)

  • Experience in management consulting, strategic consulting, or a similarly rigorous problem-solving environment.

  • Experience in management consulting, strategic consulting, or a similarly rigorous problem-solving environment.

  • Product management or health tech experience.

  • Program design or user-centered design experience.

  • End-to-end ownership of a program, product, or venture from concept through launch (0 to 1).

  • Value-based care experience, including ACO, population health, or managed care settings.

  • Deep domain expertise in a high-value clinical area (e.g., cardiology, oncology, behavioral health).

  • Vendor management, partnership management, or customer success experience, including contracting, performance monitoring, and operational relationship ownership.

Benefits/Perks

  • Competitive base compensation.

  • Annual bonus potential.

  • Health benefits effective on start date

  • Health & Wellness Program; up to $300 per quarter for your overall well-being available on start date.

  • 401K plan effective on the first of the month after your start date; 100% match of up to 4% of your annual salary.

  • Unlimited (or generous) paid "Vytal Time," plus 5 paid sick days after your first 90 days.

  • Company-paid STD/LTD.

  • Technology setup.

  • Ability to help build a market leader in value-based healthcare at a rapidly growing organization.
