Position Summary 

As a member of the Cloud FinOps team at Optum Technology, you will work to align cloud and on-premises efficiencies with real-time business needs, compliance standards, and strategic stakeholder decisions. In this role, you will leverage enterprise-approved AI tools to analyze cloud usage, identify cost inefficiencies, optimize capacity, track performance metrics, and perform spend anomaly detection. Working closely with engineering, finance, and leadership teams, you will deliver actionable analytics that drive financial transparency, operational optimization, and cost accountability across our enterprise footprint. 

Primary Responsibilities 

• Leverage enterprise-approved AI tools to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and drive continuous improvement. 

• Evaluate emerging trends to inform solution design and strategic innovation. 

• Perform complex data analysis, cloud cost modeling, and capacity optimization to align resource utilization with real-time business needs and compliance guidelines. 

• Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to provide visibility into cloud spend, performance metrics, and spend anomaly detection. 

• Query, aggregate, and analyze large-scale multi-cloud usage datasets (e.g., AWS, Azure) to identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements. 

• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, product, and finance stakeholders to communicate financial insights, support budget forecasting, and guide data-driven decisions. 

• Conduct root-cause analysis on spend anomalies, usage spikes, and forecasting variances to maintain governance and accountability across cloud and on-premises environments. 
• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions to address complex business challenges with emphasis on responsible use of AI \

Required Qualifications  

• 4+ years of professional experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or financial data modeling

• 4+ years of experience writing SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze large, complex datasets

• 2+ years of experience in Cloud FinOps, cloud cost management, or analyzing cloud resource spend and usage (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)

• 2+ years of experience utilizing approved AI tools or automated analytical utilities to optimize reporting workflows, perform anomaly detection, or streamline data analysis

• 2+ years of experience designing and maintaining interactive dashboards using BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)

Preferred Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of equivalent professional experience in data analytics, cloud FinOps, or financial analysis in lieu of a degree
• FinOps Certified Practitioner (FCP) or equivalent cloud cost management certification

• Experience working in hybrid multi-cloud infrastructure environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, on-premises)

• Proficiency in scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, R) for data analysis and process automation

• Strong communication and presentation skills, with proven experience presenting technical/financial analysis to leadership and key stakeholders

• Familiarity with cloud governance, compliance frameworks, and enterprise budgeting processes

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $91,700 to $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
