Sr. Civil Designer

Job Details: Job Location: 1200 ENCLAVE PKWY - HOUSTON, TX, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Job Summary: 

The Sr. Civil Designer leads the review and development of civil earthworks designs for onshore facilities and site development projects, ensuring accuracy, safety, and constructability.  This role provides guidance to junior designers, coordinates with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and suppliers, and oversees the development of grading, drainage, site preparation, and other civil earthworks designs.  The position also supports construction and site activities as needed, maintaining effective communication across the project team to drive successful project delivery. 

Responsibilities: 

Lead the development, review, and verification of civil design drawings and deliverables for onshore facilities and infrastructure projects. 

Develop and review site grading and earthwork designs, including cut/fill plans, finished grades, slopes, berms, and site preparation requirements. 

Develop and review stormwater and drainage systems, including ditches, culverts, storm sewers, swales, detention/retention features, and drainage structures. 

Develop and review layouts for roads, access ways, driveways, parking areas, laydown areas, equipment pads, and other site improvements. 

Prepare and review civil plans, details, sections, profiles, and other design deliverables in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards. 

Interpret survey, topographic, geotechnical, and other project information and incorporate applicable data into civil design deliverables. 

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate designers and review design deliverables for accuracy, completeness, quality, and constructability. 

Support clients, project teams, and construction activities through design coordination, field verification, technical clarification, and resolution of civil design issues. 

Support project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation activities. 

Maintain clear and proactive communication with project teams and clients to ensure alignment and successful project execution. 

Performs related duties, as needed. 

Qualifications: Qualifications / Education Requirements: 

Associate's degree or technical diploma in drafting, design technology, civil design, or related field preferred.  

10+ years of experience in civil design, preferably supporting industrial, oil and gas, energy, or other heavy industrial projects. 

Ability to comprehend and interpret technical information applicable to civil design, including survey data, geotechnical information, engineering drawings, specifications, and design criteria. 

Excellent oral and written communication skills required. 

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety. 

Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. 

Software: 

Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D required. 

Experience working with survey, topographic, point cloud, or other site data preferred. 

Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred. 

Working Conditions:  

Work is primarily conducted in an office environment but may require occasional local travel to site locations may be required. 

Field duties may require outdoor work in a plant or facility. 

When on field assignment you may be required to work in a plant and/or shop areas around production machinery subject to varying temperatures and noise. 

May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes. 

May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.

Ability to communicate effectively, including sufficient clarity of speech, hearing, or other communication capabilities. 

Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

Sufficient manual dexterity to perform routine office tasks such as typing and using standard office equipment. 

Sufficient mobility to perform office duties and travel to off-site locations as needed. 

Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when visiting operational or field locations, as required by the safety department.
