Sr. Accountant

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Accountant based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to accounting and financial operations within a fast-paced, technology-driven environment focused on advanced unmanned aircraft systems.
You will play a key role in monthly close activities, reconciliations, accounts payable, cost accounting, and government contracting requirements.
The position combines hands-on accounting responsibilities with opportunities to improve processes, implement new financial systems, and strengthen internal workflows.
You will collaborate closely with program and contracts teams to support financial reporting, estimates, and contract performance tracking.
The role also provides exposure to Cost Accounting Standards, audits, and the evolving requirements of a growing government contractor.
Success will require strong analytical skills, independence, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities with minimal supervision.

Accountabilities:

• Support the monthly financial close process and provide backup coverage for other accounting team members when needed.
• Become cross-trained on close procedures, journal entries, reconciliations, and other core accounting activities to ensure continuity across the team.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts with project ledgers, investigate variances, and maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation.
• Manage the Accounts Payable function and contribute to efficient day-to-day finance operations.
• Partner with program and contracts teams to develop bases of estimates, supporting documentation, and recurring program-level financial reporting.
• Assess anticipated Cost Accounting Standards coverage and obligations and lead the development and maintenance of CAS Disclosure Statements as requirements evolve.
• Prepare and manage CAS-related reporting and support future CAS audits or reviews.
• Contribute to the implementation of accounting platforms such as Bill.com and Concur, as well as other enterprise software.
• Help design accounting workflows, approval hierarchies, and system integrations while supporting employee training and serving as an internal resource following implementation.
• Contribute to process improvements and broader finance initiatives while operating with a high degree of autonomy.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
• Hands-on experience with Cost Accounting Standards in a government contracting environment, including CAS Disclosure Statements and CAS reporting.
• Experience supporting monthly financial statement close, general ledger reconciliations, cost accounting, and financial reporting.
• Experience implementing or supporting the implementation of accounting software and financial systems.
• Strong Excel skills combined with analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, improve processes, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition methods applicable to T&M, CPFF, and FFP contracts is preferred.
• Experience with QuickBooks, Bill.com, and/or Concur is preferred.
• Previous involvement with DCAA or other financial audits is preferred.
• Experience with U.K. subsidiary accounting is considered a plus.
• Ability to work in the United States and meet applicable government contracting employment eligibility requirements.
