Spring Internship - People & Culture

Colorado Legal Services (CLS) is Colorado’s statewide nonprofit legal aid program, with thirteen offices providing civil legal assistance to low-income Coloradans throughout the state. CLS provides free legal assistance in a broad variety of legal areas, including family law, public benefits, eviction defense, consumer protection, services to survivors of serious crime and human trafficking, and many others.

Position Summary:
 

CLS’s People & Culture team is responsible for managing the people side of the work – everything related to employees from the moment they’re hired to the moment they leave. Interns with this team can expect to feel essential to the daily operations, assisting with tasks related to trainings, company culture, recruitment, and systems and processes.  

Interns will have opportunities to develop skills in human resources and nonprofit management.
They will also be able to network with professionals in the legal aid and nonprofit sectors and make a meaningful impact on access to justice. 

Essential Duties: 

• Team Collaboration:
  Participate in meetings and contribute ideas to strengthen workplace culture strategies.  

• Human Resources: Utilize attention to detail skills in drafting and editing organizational HR-related documents.  

• Digitizing and Auditing Files:
  Utilize technology skills to digitize old human resources office files and ensure all files are accurate and complete.  

Required Qualifications:
 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
   

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.  

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and comfortable learning new software.  

• Interest in nonprofit management, fundraising, social justice, or human resources.  

• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.  

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Prior experience in research or writing is a plus but not required.  

Location 

This position is housed in the Denver office. 

Time commitment: 

Part-time, 10 hours per week preferred. 

Compensation: 

The position is unpaid but is open to receiving other work study funds that are student generated. Students may apply for course credit through their Externship Program.
