SportsPITTSBURGH: Events and Sales Intern

VisitPITTSBURGH is a tourism development organization dedicated to expanding the tourism economy across Allegheny County. The organization generates positive economic impact across the tourism verticals of business events, sports, and leisure travel. VisitPITTSBURGH achieves its goals, including ensuring the region has certain economic benefits through the combined efforts of all team members throughout the organization.

The SportsPITTSBURGH intern supports event operations, sales efforts, and marketing initiatives, gaining hands-on experience in sports tourism and event management while contributing to the success of major sporting events across Pittsburgh.

Essential Functions

• Assist in planning, coordination, and execution of sporting events and community activations
• Support event operations, including pre-event inventory management, on-site setup and volunteer coordination
• Support marketing and communication initiatives through keeping the website up-to-date, organizing photo and video files, and distribution list management
• Conduct research and data entry to support event bids, reports, and department projects related to new business opportunities
• Represent SportsPITTSBURGH professionally at meetings and events

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities
• Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Enthusiasm for sports, events, and community engagement
• Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends for events
• Pursuing a degree in Sports Management, Marketing, Communications, Event Management, or a related field

Qualifications

• Students who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program from an accredited college or university.
• Availability to work 14-21 hours per week for at least 13 weeks – must be able to commute to the office at least two days per week
• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
