JOB TITLE: Spiritual Care Coordinator

SHIFT: PRN, Part-time (as needed) 

Summary/Objective

Working in conjunction with the Supervisor to Customer Services and under oversight of the Chaplain Team, the Spiritual Care Coordinator is responsible for assessing and addressing the spiritual needs of patients, families, visitors, and staff.  This position is also responsible for interacting with patients, families, visitors, and staff at crucial stewardship, compassion, and respect. moments, administering in many discreet fashions.  The Spiritual Care Coordinator supports the mission of the hospital by providing compassionate and innovative spiritual care through our core values of inclusion, excellence, integrity, teamwork,

Essential Functions

Working in conjunction with the Chaplain Team, provides spiritual care and assessment to patients, families, visitors, and staff.
Participate in regular supervision with a qualified chaplain or spiritual care leader (e.g., at least monthly) to review patient interactions, address complex cases, and support professional growth.
Function as a calming presence, working compassionately and efficiently with others.
Create an open and inviting atmosphere, reflecting diverse life experiences, free of judgement.
Create meaningful relationships while respecting the unique experience of others.
Counsel distressed and bereaved individuals while providing helpful strategies for healing and understanding.
Assist patients, families, and visitors with questions about Advance Directives.

Qualifications

Experience

Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Experience in pastoral care including spiritual counseling and bereavement/grief support preferred.

Skills/Competencies

Demonstrates a strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly read, write, and speak using appropriate grammar, style, and vocabulary.

Education Required

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field combined with 1-3 years of experience in Pastoral care, ministry, or theological practice; or
Completion of certified training in pastoral care (e.g., recognized lay pastoral care certification program) with demonstrated competency in spiritual care delivery.
