Day - 08 Hour (United States of America)

Assesses patients and establishes appropriate treatment plan based on diagnosis and professional standards. Provides appropriate treatment of patients using specific modalities and treatment techniques. Accurately documents treatments and care of patients and communicates with other team members. Participates in individual and department continuous improvement and education activities.

Essential Functions

• Following department guidelines and ASHA standards, provides direct patient care, including assessment and treatment of patients, developing and carrying out individual designed treatment programs.
• Incorporates age-specific guidelines and interprets standardized diagnostic test using evidence-based training.
• Establishes and documents functional limitations, measurable goals with timelines and progress on goals and/or home practice information. 
• Seeks input from patients regarding goals, progress to ensure standards of care
• Evaluates the effectiveness of treatment at various stages and makes adjustments to achieve maximum benefit or discharges and/or referrals
• Communicates with the referring physician, including obtaining certification of plan of care when necessary.
• Provides patient and/or family member with appropriate education to enhance knowledge and fully benefit from interventions. 
• Assists with department finances with accurate daily billing practices, active daily maintenance of patient care schedule. 
• Participates in team and hospital wide meetings, committees and initiatives as assigned
• Employee must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital. C-I-CARE is the foundation of Stanford Healthcare – ValleyCare’s patient-experience and represents a framework for patient-centered interactions

Job Qualifications:

Education   

• Bachelor’s degree in Speech, Language Pathology from an accredited university. 

Experience

• Prefer 3 years of experience as a Speech, Language Pathologist

License/ Certifications

• Current license to practice Speech Therapy in the State of California
• Current American Heart Association BLS Certification
• Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) certification preferred for inpatient speech therapist roles

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Good physical condition, which requires moderate lifting of equipment and patients.
• Ability to work flexible schedules and varying locations as assigned
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the hospital and departments
• Strong organization
• Strong time management ability
• Problem solver and critical thinker with the ability to anticipate possible issues
• Strong computer skills
• Self-initiative
• Knowledge of Medicare documentation standards
• Knowledge of hospital safety, quality and joint commission standards
• Knowledge of standard medical abbreviations for documentation

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $54.09 - $72.12 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
