Job Description

**PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**

Ready to make a real difference in people's lives? Here's what you'll be doing:

• **Deliver dynamic clinical speech-language pathology services** to our patients, including:
• Partner with patients, families, and our HFHS team to tackle communication and swallowing challenges head-on;
• Diagnose speech, language, and swallowing disorders with precision, and evaluate each patient's unique condition and potential;
• Create personalized, engaging treatment and therapy programs that actually work;
• Schedule and conduct follow-up visits to track progress and celebrate wins.
• **Master clinical equipment** to measure speech production characteristics during evaluations and treatment sessions—think of it as your toolkit for success!
• **Perform endoscopic assessments** of vocal fold vibratory function and swallowing function with expertise and care.
• **Collaborate with our dietary team** to develop nutritional menus and eating programs that support patients with swallowing challenges—teamwork at its finest.
• **Empower patients** by prescribing appropriate communication technology after cancer or laryngeal surgery, and teach them to use it effectively to reclaim their voice and communication skills.
• **Contribute to the bigger picture** by participating in departmental education and research programs, including program development and mentoring clinical fellows and graduate students.
• **Lead and inspire** departmental graduate students and clinical fellows through work scheduling, motivation, performance feedback, and day-to-day guidance.
• **Be our ambassador** by representing HFHS at community, regional, and national conferences, and educating local organizations about the amazing programs we offer.
• **Stay flexible** and tackle other related duties as assigned or requested—because great teams adapt and support each other!

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited graduate program;
• Successful completion of the National Praxis Examination;
• Successful completion of the Clinical Fellowship Year.
• One year of experience in a clinical setting required.

LICENSURES AND CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: 

• The State of Michigan license; Certificate of Clinical Competence by ASHA
