Specialty Services Counselor

Job Details: Job Location: Riverside - Riverside, CA, Salary Range: $23.00 - $26.00Hourly, Coordinate and schedule all aspects of patient surgeries for ophthalmologists in multispecialty group practice, including pre-operative testing, insurance verification, obtaining pre-authorizations and scheduling post-operative visits. In addition, provide administrative support including collecting patient payments, performing insurance verification, scheduling follow-up appointments and/or ancillary testing, obtaining records/authorizations, and performing encounter in patient registration system(s).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains surgical schedule for surgeons
Communicates with patients about: scheduling, pre-op testing and visits, insurance requirements, surgical consents, facility ownership disclosure, transportation requirements, financial requirements, financial hardship assistance
Contacts facilities for scheduling
Arranges for pre-op testing
Schedules pre-op visits
Calls for necessary pre-authorizations
Coordinates paperwork
Maintains patient confidentiality
Attends required meetings

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED required
At least one-year experience working in medical field and counseling of surgical patients preferred
Experience in ophthalmology or optometry preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Detailed oriented, reliable and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment
Flexible schedule working Monday-Friday

Preferred:

Over 2 years and up to and including 5 years of experience.

Ability to read and interpret basic business correspondence
Strong organizational skills and proven ability to multitask
Proactive work ethic and self-starter
Intermediate computer skill

 
Qualifications: Qualifications

3-5 years minimum of high-level customer service and/or sales experience.
Medical experience is a plus.
College degree is preferred
Ophthalmic certifications are a plus which includes either ABO or COA.
Must be able to manage difficult personalities and multiple tasks with care and accuracy.
