Job DetailsJob Location: Minnetonka - Minnetonka, MN 55343Salary Range: $40,000.00 - $70,000.00 SalaryLionsgate Academy is a Public Charter School that specializes in educating students with living with Autism or other learning differences.
SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER-TRANSITIONS:
Teaches transitions classes, including prerequisite skills in the areas of employment, post secondary education and independent living while incorporating social skills, as well as high school transition electives; reports on transition activities; collaborates with the transitions department team and develops relevant Community Based Instruction (CBI) for students throughout the school year.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintain accurate and complete lesson plans.
Develop appropriate lesson plans and Community Based Instruction along that appropriately meets their transitions needs (ex: social skills, perspective taking, group work, self-awareness, community participation).
Develop appropriate lesson plans and Community Based Instruction covering transition learning outcomes, benchmarks and activities for the transition areas of employment, post-secondary education and independent living
Maintain accurate and complete student records, and prepare reports on students as required by law, policies, and administrative regulations. These include, but are not limited to, IEP reporting documents, grades, student portfolios, and transitions activities documents.
Work with a team on the continued implementation and development of programming for transitions education of 7th-12th grade students.
Collaborate with other staff members to create meaningful community learning opportunities and community-based partnerships.
Prepare students for Community Based Instruction and support students in the community while participating in Community Based Instruction.
Lead and train other staff who will be supporting students in participating in Community Based Instruction
Work with other staff members in implementing accommodations and modifications.
Evaluate students' progress on a continuous basis

QualificationsREQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Possession of a valid Minnesota Teaching License in Special Education
Ability to operate a computer and the software necessary to complete the required job tasks
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
If not currently or appropriately licensed, must be willing and eligible to apply for and receive an Out of Field Permission or Tier 1 or Tier 2 Teaching License
In process of gaining ASD Licensure or hold certificate with willingness to pursue licensure
Work Based Learning Licensure
PEERS School Based Certified Provider or willingness to be trained
Experience, interest and/or expertise working with students on the autism spectrum, varied learning styles and levels of mastery

In many ways, we function like a typical high school with core academic classes (e.g., math, science), elective classes (e.g., drama, art), and after school activities (e.g., music, automotive club, legos club).
In addition to this, we have full support services and transitions teams on staff to provide necessary training in areas such as social skills, occupational therapy, speech-language skills, and transition skills (e.g., preparing for employment, preparing for postsecondary education, and independent living skills).
