Position Summary

The Sourcing Expeditor is responsible for driving supplier execution and ensuring the timely delivery of materials, components, and services required to support New Product Introduction (NPI), production, and customer project schedules. This position serves as the primary liaison between suppliers and internal stakeholders, proactively identifying risks, resolving delivery challenges, and developing recovery plans to maintain critical project milestones.
This is a highly visible, supplier-facing role requiring extensive travel to supplier facilities to monitor production progress, validate schedule commitments, expedite critical orders, and support supplier performance improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working directly with suppliers to ensure schedule adherence and mitigate supply chain risks before they impact operations or customer commitments.

Position Responsibilities

Supplier Schedule Management & Expediting

• Serve as the primary point of contact for supplier schedule execution and delivery performance.
• Conduct regular supplier visits to verify production status, monitor progress against commitments, and identify potential delivery risks.
• Drive recovery plans for late or at-risk materials through direct engagement with supplier management and operations teams.
• Escalate critical supply issues and coordinate corrective actions to protect project and production schedules.
• Facilitate priority changes and expedite requests based on business and customer requirements.
• Monitor supplier capacity, resource constraints, and operational challenges that could impact delivery performance.

New Product Introduction (NPI) Support

• Partner with sourcing, engineering, quality, and project teams to support NPI program execution.
• Ensure supplier readiness and material availability to meet prototype, pilot, and production launch schedules.
• Monitor critical path components and proactively identify schedule risks that could impact NPI milestones.
• Support supplier development activities necessary to achieve launch readiness and delivery commitments.

Supplier Relationship Management

• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key suppliers and supplier leadership.
• Conduct supplier business reviews focused on delivery performance, risk mitigation, and schedule adherence.
• Provide on-site support to suppliers to remove barriers impacting production and shipment schedules.
• Advocate for business priorities while fostering collaborative supplier partnerships.

Purchase Order & Order Execution Support

• Support sourcing and purchasing teams by obtaining supplier order acknowledgments, validating delivery commitments, and ensuring supplier understanding of schedule requirements.
• Assist buyers in resolving schedule discrepancies, commitment changes, and supplier execution issues.
• Maintain accurate supplier status updates and communicate schedule changes to internal stakeholders.
• Coordinate with suppliers to align delivery commitments with project and production requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Sourcing, Project Management, Engineering, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, and Logistics teams to resolve supply chain challenges.
• Participate in project reviews and provide updates on supplier performance, delivery status, and identified risks.
• Support logistics and transportation efforts when expedited shipments are required to support business objectives.

Risk Management & Reporting

• Identify supply chain risks before they impact production or customer delivery commitments.
• Develop and communicate mitigation plans for critical material shortages and supplier delays.
• Maintain reporting on supplier delivery performance, critical shortages, and schedule recovery efforts.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on supplier delivery reliability and operational performance.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, supplier management, manufacturing, project management, operations, or supply chain execution.
• Experience working directly with external suppliers in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to travel extensively and work independently in supplier-facing environments. 
  Travel: 80%+ domestic and international travel.

  This role requires frequent on-site engagement with suppliers and manufacturing partners. Candidates should be comfortable spending extended periods at supplier facilities, conducting production readiness reviews, validating manufacturing progress, and driving recovery actions to ensure successful execution of company objectives.

• Must be fluent in English, with strong speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension skills
• US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
• Candidate must also pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) or new product launch programs.
• Experience in power generation, industrial equipment, engineered products, manufacturing, or project-based industries.
• Background in supplier development, supplier quality, manufacturing operations, or strategic sourcing.
• Demonstrated experience managing supplier recovery plans and schedule-driven projects.
