ABOUT THE ROLE

The grant-funded Social Work Recruitment and Placement Coordinator supports the administration of the California Social Work Education Capacity Expansion grant (SWECE) for the Master of Social Work program. The role focuses on outreach, recruitment, and student field placement in underserved California communities, in collaboration with Strategic Partnership Associates and Social Work faculty and staff. Works closely with the MSW Program Director and MSW Field Director to meet grant requirements and coordinate field placements.  Specifically, this position provides comprehensive support to students seeking field placement/supplemental supervision, field faculty, agency supervisors, directors and executive directors through implementation of placement procedures and policy.

The position is grant funded and is anticipated to end by June 30, 2027.​​

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:    

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• ​Collaborate with Strategic Partnership team to perform outreach in underserved California communities, publicize the MSW program, and recruit students from underrepresented populations​ 

• Engage in targeted recruitment for field placement opportunities in students’ local communities supporting students in locating field sites.

Field Placement Coordination & Student Support 

• ​​Coordinate field placement process for students and ensure that applicable students are placed at appropriate field sites that satisfy the Field Program guidelines and HCAI grant’s criteria. 
  ​ 

• Provide guidance to students in locating field sites.Serve as university liaison and representative around field placement inquiries from internal and external stakeholders. 

• Monitor field agencies to ensure proper supervision and task assignment to students in practicum roles. 

• Respond to field placement questions from students, site supervisors, and agency directors.  

• Troubleshoot student placement issues in coordination with the field director/assistant field director, field instructors, field practicum specialist and other university staff/faculty.  

• Inform students, directors of sites, and site supervisors about field policies, procedures and expectations.

• Identify and assess agencies in underserved California communities to serve as field placement sites for MSW students. 

• Track and maintain data on student intern placements by term in coordination with the Field Director

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES: 

• Master of Social Work degree from a CSWE-accredited MSW program 

• Prefer 2+ years post-master's experience placing MSW students for field practicum in a university online platform 

• Prefer some experience engaging in outreach or student recruitment events  

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• ​Knowledge of academic processes in college/university setting. 

• ​Excellent interpersonal and communications skills. 

• ​Highly developed organizational skills and attention to detail. 

• ​Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or equivalent Google Workspace tools (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides) 

• ​Able to leverage AI-powered tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, ChatGPT, Grammarly, or similar) to improve productivity, streamline communication, draft content, summarize information, and support day-to-day administrative tasks  

• ​Ability to exercise independent judgment, demonstrate tact and diplomacy, and maintain a high level of confidentiality. 

• ​Ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, and work under pressure. 

• ​Ability to work effectively within a collaborative environment. 

• ​Substantial experience in an academic environment is desired.

Machines, Tools, Equipment, Electronic Devices and Software:  ​Strong competence in Microsoft Office is expected. Knowledge of SharePoint and Sonia is preferred.​

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  

Working conditions are generally normal for an office environment.  Position may be required to work flexible hours given the varied availabilities of field site agency personnel and other stakeholders. California residency is required, as  travel within California  is required approximately 1-4 times a year.  Applicants for this position are subject to a background check and a criminal history review.  

The hiring range for this position is $25.00-$30.00 an hour. Offers are determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographical location, knowledge, skills, years
