Be the Voice—and Face—of Financial Wellness on Social Media

Acorns is the voice of financial wellness for the up-and-coming. We're hiring the person to lead that voice on social.

The world doesn’t need another brand telling people how to spend their money. Social media is already filled with that. The perfect ad, the latest must-have, the endless scroll of things designed to separate people from their money.

Social media drives behavior—but why does it only push people to spend? With the right message, the right timing, and the right approach, it can do more than sell—it can help people build better habits, shift their mindset, and take control of their financial future. Bringing financial wellness into culture starts with how we educate, entertain, and inspire— that’s what this role is all about.

This is a creator role first and foremost. You’ll be a recurring on-camera presence for Acorns, creating original social content from concept through publish. You should be equally comfortable speaking directly to camera, scripting a strong hook, shooting and editing a video, reacting quickly to a cultural moment, and understanding why a piece of content performed.

This role reports to the Sr. Director of Brand Marketing.

Acorns is a remote-first organization, offering the flexibility to work remotely while providing optional access to office space in Irvine, CA.

What You'll Be Doing:

This role is about original creation, experimentation, and velocity. You’ll be hands-on from concept to publish—developing ideas, scripting, shooting, appearing on camera, editing, writing hooks and captions, and reacting in real time.

• Create and Be the Face of Social Content: Regularly create and appear in original, platform-native content for Acorns and Acorns Early. This could include direct-to-camera videos, voiceover and editorial storytelling, UGC-style content, edu-tainment, trend-driven and reactive formats, and content featuring other members of the Acorns team.

• Deliver Distinctive Content: Actively create and capture a mix of thumb-stopping content including UGC, in-house content, edu-tainment, bts moments (team, product, culture), trend-driven and reactive formats, CEO led content, and real customer moments.

• Lead Social Strategy: Set & run social strategy for both Acorns and Acorns Early that connects to larger marketing and business goals.

• Own the Content Calendar: Develop, manage, and execute a dynamic content calendar, ensuring timely, relevant, and strategic content across priority channels.

• Manage Creators: Source, scope and manage external creators as needed to diversify social content, tap into priority communities.

• Lead Community Management: Be the hands on the keys for our day-to-day community management, engaging in conversations about and with Acorns to foster a strong, engaged community. Collaborate with support partners to key topics, customer inquiries, and escalations with empathy and clarity.

• Grow Our Channels: Grow Acorns' organic social media presence across Instagram, TikTok, with a secondary focus on Reddit, YouTube, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms.

• Report on Performance: Analyze and report on social performance, providing insights on engagement, audience growth, and content effectiveness to optimize strategy and inform future campaigns.

• Champion the Brand: Own the Acorns brand voice and visual presence on social across the visual tone and caption copy.

• Track Culture & Trends: Stay ahead of trends and find opportunities to integrate Acorns into relevant conversations and channels within culture, investing, fintech landscape, and beyond.

What You Bring to the Table:

• 5-8+ years of hands-on experience creating content and managing social channels.

• A portfolio or examples of social-first content you have personally created, including examples that demonstrate your ability and comfort appearing on camera.

• End-to-end creator skills: you can concept, script, shoot, and edit with speed, precision and intention.

• Strong on-camera presence: You are comfortable speaking directly to camera and becoming a recognizable, recurring presence across Acorns' social channels.

• End-to-end creator skills: You can concept, script, shoot, edit, package, and publish compelling social content with speed, precision, and intention.

• Strong short-form video production skills, including mobile-first shooting, framing, lighting, audio, pacing, transitions, captions, and platform-native editing.

• A restless creative mind: you're already thinking about the next format, the next platform, the next idea nobody's tried yet.

• Experience with creative tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Canva. You don't need to be a motion designer, but you should be able to independently turn an idea into polished social content.

• Strong understanding of Instagram and TikTok, including platform-specific formats, trends, algorithms, audience behavior, and creative best practices. Experience with YouTube, Reddit, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms is a plus.

• A creator's instincts with a strategist's brain: you understand why something works, not just that it worked.

• Self-starter energy: you don't wait for perfect briefs. You see an opportunity and make something.

• Culturally fluent: you know what's trending before it peaks, and how to make Acorns part of the conversation.

• Real empathy for our community: you care about the people on the other side of the screen and how Acorns shows up for them.

• Thirst for delivering game-changing products. A belief that your work is tied to your life's mission.

• Fintech knowledge is a plus, not a requirement. Your social media instincts matter more than your industry background.

Compensation Information:

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $117,000 and $135,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including equity grants, and discretionary cash bonus awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
