Social Media Content Creator (Contract)

23andMe is looking for an innovative Social Media Content Creator (Contract) to join our Brand Marketing team. This isn't just a social media role, it’s a seat at the intersection of cutting-edge genetics and digital storytelling. You will be responsible for translating DNA science and genetics stories into scroll-stopping content that educates, entertains, and inspires our community.

The ideal candidate can film and edit content regularly and is brimming with ideas. You’ll work closely with the Head of Social Media and Head of Brand Marketing to take content strategy plans and turn them into compelling social media content.

What You’ll Do 

• Full-Cycle Production: Conceptualize, script, shoot, and edit high-quality video and photo content tailored for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube, and Facebook.

• Trend & Culture Tracking: Act as the team’s "ear to the ground" for internet culture, identifying viral trends and algorithm shifts that 23andMe can authentically join.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the broader Brand Marketing and Science teams to support major product launches, heritage months, and brand initiatives.

• Community Growth: Develop audience-driven content series that spark conversation and deepen our followers' understanding of their own genetic stories.

What You’ll Bring 

• Experience: 2–4+ years of professional experience in social media production or digital marketing, preferably for a science, health, or tech brand.

• Technical Mastery: Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, Photoshop) and/or native platform editors (CapCut, TikTok, Canva, etc.), Claude Design, and ability to use reporting tools to analyze content performance and optimize creative accordingly. Proficiency with both smartphone and DSLR camera required.

• Platform Expert: Understanding of the nuances between platforms and which content performs the best on which platforms.

• Copywriting: Strong editorial skills with the ability to write catchy captions and clear, concise educational scripts.

• Organization: Experience using project management tools (Jira) and social scheduling software (Sprout Social).
