Position Summary:

The Intermediate Growing Spaces Student Assistant supports day-to-day work in the greenhouse, organic garden, orchard, and food forest. This role is ideal for students interested in learning the basics of agroecology, gardening, and sustainability. Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the assistant helps with maintenance tasks and supports events and produce distribution.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist with planting, watering, weeding, and general garden upkeep
• Support produce harvesting and distribution to campus outlets
• Set up and clean up for community events such as Earth Day
• Participate in composting and garden preparation projects
• Maintain organization of tools, supplies, and workspaces
• Track hours and work performed for program documentation
• Perform other duties as directed by the GrowingSpaces director

Learning Outcomes:

• Learn fundamental gardening and agroecology practices
• Gain experience working collaboratively on sustainability initiatives
• Practice clear communication and teamwork
• Develop responsibility in tracking tasks and maintaining shared workspaces
• Apply safety protocols in gardening and greenhouse environments
