The Massachusetts Department of Correction (Mass DOC) is partnering with BufferSprings to offer a powerful SkillBridge opportunity for transitioning service members who are ready to find purpose in their next chapter. This isn’t about checking boxes or filling time. It’s about stepping into a new kind of uniform and playing a real role in protecting and rebuilding our communities.
During your SkillBridge with Mass DOC, you’ll gain hands-on experience across multiple career paths. You’ll work alongside officers, program leaders, medical teams, educators, administrators, and operational staff who wake up every day to serve a bigger purpose. Whether you're exploring a long-term career in public safety or testing the waters in a structured, mission-driven environment, this opportunity gives you a front-row seat to real impact.

Receive mentorship from BufferSprings and Mass DOC leaders who believe in growing talent from within
-
Build relationships and gain insights that give you a competitive edge in the state hiring process
Who We're Looking For
You don’t need to have a background in corrections to thrive here. You need discipline, character, and a willingness to keep showing up when it matters.
-
You’re a transitioning service member approved for the DoD SkillBridge program
-
You’re driven by structure, purpose, and the opportunity to be part of something bigger
-
You’re curious about a career in public service, safety, reentry, or community justice
-
You’re dependable, respectful, and ready to learn from people who’ve spent years doing this work
Why It Matters
This isn't a job preview. It's a chance to figure out if this is the mission for you. Whether you're interested in becoming a Correction Officer, working in behavioral health, managing logistics, or running a facility, this SkillBridge gives you direct exposure to the people and systems that make it all work.
You’ll gain real knowledge and support to confidently decide what comes next after your military service. And if you choose to apply for a permanent role, you’ll do it with insider insight, tailored preparation, and a network that’s rooting for you.

BufferSprings: Eradicating Veteran Underemployment, One Smart Company at a Time
Hiring military talent isn’t charity...it’s smart business. Veterans and military spouses bring unmatched leadership, adaptability, and mission-driven focus to any organization. But here’s the hard truth: most companies are doing it wrong. Checking boxes, waving flags, and calling it a day doesn’t cut it.
At BufferSprings, we build military-effective hiring programs that actually work. We partner with forward-thinking employers to design strategies that go beyond compliance and token gestures.
Our focus? Retention, community engagement, and long-term impact. If you’re a federal contractor navigating VEVRAA & Section 503 compliance requirements, we’ll help you not just meet the standard... we’ll help you set it.
What We Do:
- Design and implement military hiring programs built for sustainability and retention
- Develop SkillBridge opportunities to bridge the gap between active duty and civilian careers
- Guide companies in becoming truly veteran-inclusive, not just “friendly” for show
- Offer strategic assessments to improve hiring, engagement, and retention at every level
Why BufferSprings?
We’re not consultants who read a few articles on veteran hiring. We’ve lived it. As a 100% Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business (SDVOB), our team knows firsthand the value veterans and military spouses bring to the table. Every member of our crew has served or supported those who have, and we bring that mission-first mentality to every project.
The Bottom Line:
If you’re serious about building a military talent pipeline that drives real results, we’re ready to help you lead the way. No fluff, no flags for optics. Just real solutions that move your company forward and build better futures for veterans, military spouses, and your business.
