ServiceNow Platform Architect

Job Description

NetImpact Strategies is seeking a Principal ServiceNow Platform Architect to serve as the technical authority for a Federal Agency's enterprise ServiceNow platform. This role protects platform integrity and lifecycle health across architecture, security, integrations, data, reuse, release risk, technical debt, and complex escalation while enabling multiple product and O&M teams to deliver safely on a shared platform.

This position requires U.S. citizenship and a post-award Government background investigation.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain platform architecture standards, design models, technical roadmaps, and approved patterns that support reuse, upgradeability, security, performance, and consistent delivery across product teams.
• Lead architecture, technical design, and code reviews for platform and application-team solutions, third-party products, integrations, and customizations; favor out-of-the-box capabilities, reusable services, and justified customization.
• Own technical direction for platform-level integrations, MID Server patterns, identity/SSO, service accounts, API design, data interfaces, monitoring connections, and reusable integration components.
• Lead technical support for platform ATO, security/privacy controls, POA&M remediation, security-impact reviews, access/permission models, logging/auditing, and security engineering decisions in coordination with designated Government teams.
• Define data architecture and governance for ServiceNow, including CSDM/CMDB patterns where applicable, data quality, extraction, backup/archive, recovery, migration readiness, and integration-data hygiene.
• Guide family upgrades, patches, plug-in decisions, Health Scans, technical-debt reduction, performance improvement, code scanning, CI/CD, automated testing strategy, and release-risk decisions.
• Provide the technical decision framework for complex incidents and cross-product failures; distinguish immediate restoration from durable remediation and prevent emergency fixes from creating avoidable lifecycle risk.
• Assess new or underused ServiceNow capabilities, including automation and approved GenAI features, for business value, security/privacy impact, implementation effort, dependencies, adoption, and maintainability.
• Provide technical leadership to the Community of Practice and governance boards, publish reusable standards and guidance, and mentor administrators, developers, implementation specialists, and testers.
• Support transition-in/out by validating the live technical baseline, identifying undocumented dependencies and technical debt, and ensuring architecture decisions, patterns, runbooks, and technical knowledge remain transferable.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Certifications

• Eight or more years of ServiceNow platform experience across multiple enterprise deployments, implementations, upgrades, and operational environments.
• Four or more years in a ServiceNow architect role leading design sessions, architecture reviews, platform standards, and complex technical decisions.
• Demonstrated expertise in enterprise ServiceNow architecture, ITSM/ITOM/ITAM and related platform capabilities, CSDM/CMDB concepts, integrations, security, performance, and technical-debt management.
• Demonstrated experience with IntegrationHub and/or ServiceNow integration patterns, REST/SOAP APIs, MID Servers, OAuth/service accounts, SSO/identity patterns, event/monitoring integrations, and secure connectivity.
• Demonstrated experience with ServiceNow CI/CD, source control, code scanning, ATF/testing strategy, family upgrades, Health Scans, and upgrade-safe design.
• ServiceNow CSA, CAD, and applicable CIS certifications plus an active ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) credential.
• Experience interpreting and applying federal or equivalent enterprise security/privacy requirements to platform architecture and operations.
• S. citizenship and ability to satisfy High Risk IT background-investigation and sensitive-information requirements.

Preferred Qualifications and Certifications

• Federal consulting or financial-regulatory experience.
• Experience governing a shared ServiceNow platform across multiple vendors and product teams.
• Experience with platform ATO evidence, POA&M remediation, continuity/recovery, and high-volume enterprise integration environments.

About Us

At NetImpact Strategies, we post salary ranges in compliance with the specific labor laws and regulations of each county and state, ensuring transparency and fairness in our hiring practices. This approach reflects our commitment to adhering to legal requirements and promoting equitable pay standards across all regions where we operate. The posted salary range for this role is $160,000-190,000. The posted salary range is not an exact indication of the actual compensation offered and is instead a range of what NetImpact, in good faith, could compensate at the lowest and most high end of the salary market. In general, NetImpact may not pay the top of the salary range.
