Service Writer Responsibilities

As a Service Writer with WCTractor, you will be the main point of contact for service customers in Navasota, keeping work moving efficiently between the counter, the shop, and the customer. You'll manage the full lifecycle of service work orders and warranty claims, coordinate technician workload against daily priorities, and help the department run smoothly through clear communication and organization.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Serve as the primary contact for service customers, from intake through completion
Enter, schedule, and track service work orders and warranty claims start to finish
Review work orders for completeness and accuracy, and determine work priorities
Stage and coordinate technician workload based on management priorities
Provide customers with general diagnoses of equipment problems, communicated clearly by the technician
Maintain quality control on completed work and flag variances to management
Prepare technician status reports and time/activity logs
Support customer follow-up and satisfaction tracking

Service Writer Qualifications: Service Writer Qualifications

Minimum requirements for the Service Writer position include:

High school diploma or equivalent
Two or more years of verifiable experience in repair, troubleshooting, and/or parts, preferably in agricultural equipment, motor vehicles, outdoor power equipment, RVs, construction equipment, or small engines
Valid driver's license
Ability to lift and handle loads up to 70 pounds, and to work outdoors and indoors in all weather conditions
Ability to work a standard 40-hour week, with additional hours as needed to meet customer demand
Demonstrated proficiency with parts lookup systems and customer-facing counter service
Working computer proficiency (email, scheduling/work order software, basic reporting)
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple work orders simultaneously
