Overview

As a Sr. Staff Mobile Engineer, you'll be a defining technical voice on a multi-platform app built on Kotlin Multiplatform, shipping across Android, iOS, and additional targets from a shared codebase. You'll combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution — leading architecture decisions, setting engineering standards, and guiding engineers across the organization. Your impact will extend well beyond your immediate team, shaping how we build across platforms at scale and influencing the long-term direction of our mobile engineering practice.

Our engineering strategy centers on KMP and Compose Multiplatform to deliver high-quality, consistent experiences across platforms. At this level, you won't just work within that strategy — you'll help define and evolve it.

Responsibilities

• Own the multiplatform engineering strategy across Android and shared KMP layers — setting technical direction for the team and influencing architecture decisions across the broader mobile organization
• Lead end-to-end execution of complex, multi-quarter features and systems, from architecture and design through deployment and continuous refinement across multiple platform targets
• Define and enforce engineering principles and best practices across Android and KMP surfaces, raising the standard for the entire mobile organization
• Drive architectural decisions across a layered, multi-module KMP codebase — establishing patterns for shared business logic, Compose Multiplatform UI, and cross-platform state management that scale across teams
• Partner with shared platform teams to shape contracts, shared standards, and a unified UI component library that works consistently across platforms and product lines
• Drive high-impact technical decisions in close partnership with product, design, and executive stakeholders — balancing immediate business goals with long-term scalability
• Champion software quality, testability, operational metrics, and build system health across the organization, holding teams to a higher standard
• Mentor and grow engineers at all levels, providing technical coaching that compounds across teams and fosters a culture of continuous learning
• Lead incident resolution as part of the on-call rotation and proactively remove cross-team blockers to maintain momentum on complex, multi-platform projects
• Model rigorous code reviews that elevate standards across the codebase and influence how the broader team approaches quality

Experience and Skills

• 10+ years of experience building highly scalable, consumer-facing Android applications with a strong track record of sr. staff-level technical leadership and cross-platform ownership
• Expert-level Kotlin — deep mastery of coroutines, flows, language idioms, and best practices; proven ability to drive standards and mentor engineers at all levels
• Deep KMP fluency — hands-on experience developing and scaling shared business logic in a large, multi-module KMP codebase, with the ability to lead others and define the path forward
• Strong command of MVI and reactive architecture patterns across Android and shared KMP layers, with experience applying them consistently at scale
• Gradle and build system expertise — multi-module projects, convention plugins, dependency management, and build performance in large codebases
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, SDK versioning strategies, and automated release management across mobile platforms and libraries
• Hands-on experience with Compose and Compose Multiplatform, with deep knowledge of Android platform best practices, design system standards, and end-user considerations
• Proven ability to communicate complex technical decisions clearly to engineers, executives, and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong track record of driving Agile/SCRUM process improvements and delivery excellence across teams in fast-moving, large-scale environments
• Team-first mentality with the drive to raise the bar continuously

Strong Desired

• Compose Multiplatform experience across Android, iOS, desktop, and additional targets
• Experience with KSP-based codegen, Koin, or similar DI patterns in a KMP environment
• Familiarity with feature flag systems, mobile observability tooling, and platform integration patterns
• Familiarity with distributed systems and event-driven architect

The range incorporates all of our Geographical Compensation Zones and is subject to change as the Zone associated with the actual offer is confirmed.
