Senior Software Engineer (Cloud Native, React/Node.js)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Cloud Native, React/Node.js) based in United States.

This is a senior software engineering role focused on greenfield development within the IoT and cloud-native technology space.
You will design and build highly available, scalable applications using modern cloud services and contemporary full-stack development practices.
The role combines TypeScript development with React-based frontends, NestJS backends, serverless cloud architecture, and API development.
You will contribute throughout the software lifecycle, from translating business requirements into technical designs to implementing, testing, deploying, and supporting production systems.
The position emphasizes automation, infrastructure as code, security, reliability, and efficient deployment practices.
You will work in an Agile environment that values collaboration, paired programming, continuous delivery, and clear communication across technical and business teams.
The role includes a flexible core-hours schedule and periodic company-paid travel to U.S. locations or internationally.

Accountabilities:

• Design and implement cloud-native solutions designed for 24/7 availability, applying infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices to support scalable, efficient, and repeatable deployments.
• Develop and deploy serverless applications and services on Microsoft Azure, optimizing solutions for scalability, performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Build modern full-stack applications using TypeScript, React for frontend development, and NestJS for backend services.
• Develop APIs and communication protocols that enable reliable integration with websites, third-party partners, mobile applications, and IoT devices.
• Create and maintain automated unit and behavioral tests to validate software reliability, functionality, and quality throughout the development lifecycle.
• Implement production-ready code regularly while following security best practices and incorporating effective rollback mechanisms for rapid issue resolution.
• Translate business and product requirements into clear technical designs and practical software solutions.
• Automate development, testing, deployment, and operational processes to improve engineering efficiency and product reliability.
• Participate independently in production support activities, including on-call responsibilities and issue resolution.
• Collaborate through Agile practices, including paired programming where appropriate, and contribute to continuous improvement across the development process.
• Communicate complex technical concepts and abstract engineering topics clearly to business and product stakeholders.
• Support the delivery and ongoing improvement of commercially deployed software products.

Requirements:

• At least 5 years of professional software development experience, with exposure to multiple programming and scripting languages such as TypeScript, C#, HTML, XAML, PowerShell, SQL, or Swift.
• Demonstrated experience developing and deploying software on a major cloud-native platform such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong experience using automation throughout software development, testing, deployment, and operational workflows.
• Experience building and supporting commercially used software products in a production environment.
• Ability to translate business requirements into effective technical designs and implementation approaches.
• Comfortable with paired programming and able to recognize situations where collaborative coding can improve outcomes.
• Strong understanding of Agile software development principles and the ability to explain or teach Agile concepts to others.
• Experience participating independently in product support and on-call activities.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technically complex and abstract concepts clearly to business and product teams.
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and ownership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a modern software engineering environment.
• Experience shipping multiple commercialized products is preferred.
• Experience deploying products across multiple major cloud providers is preferred.
• Experience in related areas such as customer support or data science is an asset.
• Experience with a functional programming language is preferred.
• Ability to travel for up to one week per quarter to locations such as St. Louis or Atlanta, with company-paid travel; travel may also include international destinations.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Employment sponsorship is not available for this position.

• Annual salary range of $120,000–$160,000 USD, based on skills, capabilities, experience, and the applicable local market.
