The Opportunity: 

Culture Biosciences is seeking a Senior Software Engineer who has spent part of their career as a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) or similar role to help build the software systems that power Console, our cloud bioprocessing platform. In this role, you will design and develop scalable applications that connect scientific workflows, cloud infrastructure, and hardware running in labs. You’ll work across the stack to deliver products and features that delight scientists in a highly technical, cross-functional environment, and bring the testing and automation mindset that enables us to safely iterate on our platform.

This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys building reliable software in production, and can partner effectively with multiple teams spanning software, hardware, and scientific domains.

What You’ll Do:

• Build a single-box emulator of our full stack, hardware and software, for release testing today and customer in-silico validation down the line.
• Shape how we test hardware-in-the-loop systems, from unit coverage to end-to-end runs against real and simulated instruments.
• Help define how we verify, trace, and document software changes as we move toward regulated environments.
• Design and build features for Console, our bioprocess management software in the cloud.
• Partner with software, hardware, and scientific teams to translate bioprocessing and operational requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Mentor other engineers and contribute to strong software development practices across the team.
• Learn about biotechnology and bioprocess development.

About You:

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• You have prior experience as an Software Development Engineer in Test, Test Infrastructure Engineer, or in a similar automation-focused role.
• You have experience working on and scaling full-stack applications, including frontend development and backend service design.
• You’re product focused and think about the perspective of end users in all aspects of your development.
• You have a reputation of being technically rigorous.
• You’re kind, curious and enjoy learning new things.
• You value communication and connection with a multidisciplinary team.
• You care that you’re building something that solves a problem and helps end users.

Preferred Skills: 

• You have experience with simulators, emulators, or hardware-in-the-loop test harnesses.
• You have experience shipping software in a regulated industry (for example: medical devices, pharma, biopharma, petrochemical).
• You have a Site Reliability Engineering or DevOps background.
• You have a strong interest in life sciences or biotechnology.

Location & Schedule: 

• This is a fully remote position. The successful candidate will work remotely and must be able to effectively collaborate with team members across locations.

Base Salary Range:

• Culture Biosciences's compensation package includes market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, and great benefits. Our expected base salary range for this role is $180,000-$205,000. We are hiring for multiple levels and backgrounds so final offers may vary within the range provided based on experience, expertise, and other factors.
