The Opportunity 

We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead strategy and execution across Lending Originations, with a focus on improving the applicant experience, increasing new-loan conversion, and supporting the financial health of Oportun’s members.

This is a senior individual contributor role for a strategic, hands-on product leader who can define product direction, establish objectives and key results, shape a multi-year roadmap, and lead cross-functional teams through complex lending challenges. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Design, Data, Risk, Fraud, Marketing, Operations, Legal, and Compliance to identify opportunities, align priorities, and deliver simple, responsible, and accessible lending experiences.

What You'll Do

Your day-to-day

• You’ll own product strategy and the multi-quarter roadmap for Lending Originations journeys and capabilities, contributing to the broader Originations vision.
• You’ll establish objectives, key results, and performance metrics aligned with company priorities and member needs.
• You’ll identify and prioritize opportunities to improve application completion, approval, funding, and new-loan conversion.
• You’ll translate customer, business, risk, regulatory, and operational needs into clear product priorities and scalable solutions.
• You’ll use research, experimentation, funnel analysis, and product data to understand applicant needs and improve the originations experience.
• You’ll lead cross-functional teams across Engineering, Design, Data, Risk, Fraud, Marketing, Operations, Legal, and Compliance from discovery through launch, measurement, iteration, and scale.
• You’ll balance near-term delivery with long-term platform scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• You’ll assess trade-offs across member experience, credit risk, fraud risk, operational efficiency, regulatory requirements, and financial performance.
• You’ll communicate product priorities, decisions, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs clearly to executive leaders and partner teams.
• You’ll partner closely with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Fraud to ensure products meet applicable requirements while supporting growth and responsible lending.
• You’ll bring ideas for how we can do things better, proactively, not just when asked.
• You’ll look for ways to use AI tools thoughtfully to accelerate product discovery, analysis, decision-making, and execution.

Skills & experience

Required

• 7+ years of core product management experience in high-growth environments.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex, high-impact product initiatives from strategy through execution and scale.
• Strong track record of launching and iterating on customer-facing products that delivered measurable business and customer outcomes.
• Experience defining product strategy, objectives, key results, roadmaps, and success metrics.
• Strong experience using data to make decisions, define metrics, develop hypotheses, and measure results.
• Experience with experimentation, funnel analysis, product analytics, and performance optimization.
• Proven ability to build alignment and drive results across a broad group of cross-functional partners.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders without relying on direct authority.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive communication, documentation, and product storytelling.
• Ability to move fluidly between strategic thinking and detailed execution while managing risks, dependencies, and blockers.
• Experience operating products within complex legal or regulatory frameworks.

Nice to Have

• Experience in financial services, fintech, lending, digital banking, or another highly regulated industry.
• Prior experience with lending originations, credit products, underwriting, application funnels, or loan decisioning.
• Familiarity with credit risk, fraud, compliance, servicing, or financial-product economics.
• Experience designing both self-service and agent-assisted customer journeys.
• Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar tools to improve product research, analysis, or productivity.

The US salary range for this full-time position is $ 127,800 - $ 204,500.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects a national minimum and maximum range for new hire salaries for this position.
