Senior Platform Administrator & Developer

This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, business intelligence, platform administration, and emerging AI technologies.
You will help modernize data-driven decision-making for a large-scale federal environment while ensuring the reliability of existing applications and platforms.
The position combines ETL development, SQL, data integration, BI reporting, system administration, troubleshooting, and workflow automation.
You will work across SAP BusinessObjects, SAP Data Services, Power BI, Tableau, and enterprise database environments.
The role also provides an opportunity to prototype and integrate AI/ML capabilities that can streamline workflows and reduce manual effort.
You will collaborate with business owners and IT leaders to translate mission needs into practical technical solutions and actionable data insights.
Success requires strong technical breadth, analytical thinking, platform knowledge, and the ability to modernize complex legacy data environments.

Accountabilities:

• Provide secondary platform administration support for SAP BusinessObjects and SAP Data Services, including platform availability, user permissions, maintenance, and sustainment.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve data-load failures, reporting anomalies, and operational issues across enterprise data pipelines and data warehouses.
• Perform real-time incident troubleshooting, system monitoring, health checks, auditing, and event-log analysis to maintain platform reliability.
• Perform routine maintenance, patching, and minor enhancements to existing Python automation scripts, ETL scripts, and analytical workflows.
• Support the development and maintenance of interactive dashboards, reports, and dossiers using Power BI, Tableau, and SAP BusinessObjects.
• Extract, transform, cleanse, and load complex datasets from Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and other enterprise data repositories.
• Assess data readiness and quality, including data lineage, completeness, governance, and anomaly detection, and implement corrective actions where needed.
• Design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot ETL pipelines and data integration workflows across disparate systems.
• Define and contribute to data platform architecture while helping modernize legacy business intelligence systems and reporting environments.
• Lead rapid AI model prototyping, technical demonstrations, and minimum viable product (MVP) pilots, supporting the transition of successful solutions into scalable production environments.
• Integrate AI and machine learning capabilities into existing data platforms and workflow automation to improve efficiency and reduce manual operational effort.
• Analyze upstream, downstream, and data warehouse structures to understand dependencies and optimize data flows.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT leadership to translate mission requirements into technical specifications and practical data solutions.
• Deliver clear data briefings and communicate technical findings, recommendations, and platform insights to stakeholders.
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, process documentation, and standard operating procedures.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related technical field with 10+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL and enterprise data environments.
• Experience with SAP BusinessObjects and SAP Data Services, including administration, reporting, ETL, and platform support.
• Proficiency with Power BI and Tableau for enterprise reporting and business intelligence.
• Experience working with Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases.
• Strong programming and scripting capabilities using Java, Python, SQL scripting, and object-oriented programming concepts.
• Demonstrated experience developing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing ETL pipelines and data-loading processes.
• Knowledge of data quality, lineage, governance, data warehouse structures, and enterprise data integration.
• Ability to troubleshoot platform incidents, reporting issues, data anomalies, and system-related problems in a production environment.
• Experience supporting legacy BI modernization and integrating new technologies into established data platforms.
• Familiarity with AI/ML prototyping, workflow automation, and transitioning successful technical pilots toward scalable production solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex upstream and downstream data dependencies.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Ability to translate mission and business requirements into clear technical specifications and actionable solutions.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.
• Ability to work effectively in a federal environment where data security, reliability, documentation, and operational continuity are important.
