Senior Manager, Global Procurement

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Manager, Global Procurement based in United States.

This senior procurement role will lead global category strategy, cost structures, savings initiatives, and supplier commercial strategies across key product categories.
You will help create a competitive costing environment that balances product quality, sustainability, supply continuity, and margin objectives.
The role combines strategic sourcing with hands-on expertise in clean-sheet costing, manufacturing efficiency, raw materials, and supplier negotiations.
You will work closely with merchandising, materials, sourcing, production, technology, and manufacturing partners across international markets.
A major focus will be driving measurable cost improvements while building scalable procurement processes and negotiation frameworks.
You will also explore innovative approaches to verticalization, volume consolidation, commodity management, and upstream sourcing.
The position offers significant scope to shape global procurement strategy and introduce technology and AI into complex sourcing and costing processes.

Accountabilities:

• Define and execute commercial category strategies and vendor distribution roadmaps that improve margins while supporting business growth, product quality, and ESG objectives.
• Establish short- and long-term procurement targets for assigned categories and drive measurable product cost improvements, including a target of 700 basis points of product cost reduction over the next 12 months.
• Partner with technology teams to embed procurement capabilities, processes, and playbooks into vendor and product management tools.
• Lead competitive, end-to-end RFP processes, from vendor identification and bidding through negotiation and final supplier award.
• Deliver immediate cost savings through rigorous supplier negotiations while developing repeatable negotiation frameworks that strengthen long-term category performance.
• Explore and develop AI-enabled tools and agents to systematize RFP execution and support scenario analysis.
• Build and apply component-level clean sheets to establish pricing transparency and determine optimal costs for buy events across assigned categories.
• Review and approve buy plans and margin assumptions, ensuring procurement decisions support overall business margin objectives.
• Work with finished-goods manufacturers and upstream material suppliers to secure competitive pricing and availability for fabrics, yarns, fibers, commodities, trims, and other inputs.
• Establish launch costing and recurring renegotiation schedules that enable suppliers to move toward scale pricing as volumes increase.
• Provide merchandising teams with achievable scale-cost targets to support product development and commercial decision-making.
• Partner with Material Managers, Sourcing teams, and Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers to incorporate upstream material benefits into finished-goods costing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate material availability and cost considerations into product design and development from an early stage.
• Identify opportunities to create additional financial value through supply-chain redesign, verticalization, volume consolidation, and strategic commodity sourcing.
• Explore innovative approaches to managing critical materials and commodities, including partnerships across farms, mills, manufacturers, and other supply-chain participants.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of experience in global procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management within a retail apparel environment.
• Proven experience leading competitive RFP processes with international manufacturing partners.
• Hands-on experience developing and using clean-sheet costing models for pricing analysis and supplier negotiations.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to evaluate costs, identify opportunities, and make commercially sound decisions.
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with merchandising, materials, production, sourcing, and other business teams.
• Strong commercial acumen and demonstrated negotiation skills, with the ability to establish competitive supplier terms while maintaining productive partnerships.
• Technical aptitude and interest in using AI-powered platforms, including LLMs, for scenario analysis and automation of complex procurement activities.
• Experience in apparel, soft goods, or home goods is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree is required; an MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.
• Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on with detailed costing, supplier negotiations, sourcing decisions, and procurement execution.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence international suppliers and cross-functional teams.
