Senior Hosting Infrastructure Administrator

Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Hosting Infrastructure Administrator to serve as one of two primary Linux experts responsible for supporting and evolving the company's enterprise Linux environment. This role is ideal for a Senior infrastructure engineer who brings deep Linux administration experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and a passion for automation, reliability, and continuous improvement.

The environment primarily supports SAP ERP systems running on Linux, making prior SAP experience highly desirable. The team is small and collaborative, providing exposure to a broad range of infrastructure technologies including cloud, virtualization, storage, backups, and data center operations.

Key Requirements

• Strong, hands-on Linux administration and engineering experience

• Understanding of infrastructure automation and configuration management concepts

• Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred

Preferred Experience

• SAP on Linux
• VMware or other virtualization platforms
• Azure and/or AWS cloud infrastructure
• Enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions
• Data center operations and hardware support
• Manufacturing or plant-floor IT environments

What You'll Be Doing

Linux & Infrastructure Engineering

• Own the stability, performance, and growth of Linux systems across physical, virtual, and cloud environments
• Support mission-critical SAP workloads and surrounding infrastructure
• Lead troubleshooting efforts and serve as the highest level of escalation for complex Linux issues
• Implement and maintain Linux best practices for performance, reliability, and availability

Automation & Reliability

• Develop and maintain infrastructure automation solutions
• Automate provisioning, configuration, deployment, and operational workflows
• Expand monitoring and alerting capabilities to reduce downtime and improve system visibility
• Drive infrastructure standardization and operational efficiency

Cloud, Virtualization & Data Center Operations

• Support workloads running in Azure and AWS
• Assist with cloud adoption initiatives as the organization expands its cloud footprint
• Manage virtualization platforms such as VMware
• Participate in data center operations, hardware lifecycle management, and infrastructure maintenance

Storage, Backup & Disaster Recovery

• Support enterprise storage platforms and related infrastructure upgrades
• Own backup, recovery, business continuity, and disaster recovery processes
• Execute disaster recovery testing and validate recovery readiness

Technical Leadership

• Act as a Senior technical resource and mentor within the infrastructure team
• Lead root cause analysis and incident response efforts
• Contribute to infrastructure standards, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives

Environment

• Primarily SUSE Linux with some Red Hat Linux
• SAP-centric Linux environment
• Hybrid infrastructure with on-premises, Azure, and AWS workloads
• Shared on-call rotation
• Small, highly collaborative team with broad technical ownership

Ideal Candidate

A Senior Linux engineer with broad infrastructure experience who can independently support enterprise Linux environments, troubleshoot complex issues, drive automation initiatives, and serve as a key technical leader within a small but highly impactful infrastructure team. SAP experience is a significant plus, while experience with Terraform, Ansible, SaltStack, VMware, cloud, storage, and disaster recovery will make a candidate especially competitive.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plymouth, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $53.00 - $60.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
