At Credo Health, we're fixing one of healthcare's most stubborn problems: getting the right patient data to the people who need it. Every year, billions of pages of medical records are still moved by fax, creating care delays, mountains of administrative work, and dangerous gaps in what providers know about their patients. Our AI-powered platform leapfrogs the painful user experiences of legacy EHRs to get providers the patient answers they need, fast.

Doctors, nurses, and clinicians love our software, and we have paid customers using it every day to manage and improve the health of their patients. We're a seed-stage team at an early, formative moment. The people we bring on now will shape not just the product, but how we build and who we become.

The role

We're looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join us as an early engineering contributor on our Platform team, building core features that use AI to improve health outcomes for patients. You'll report to our Head of Engineering, work on a team of 5–7, and often get to collaborate with our machine learning team. You'll work across the entire stack — building features from database to UI, shaping our architecture, and shipping real things to real users every week. This is a high-ownership role with a lot of surface area; you'll have direct influence over what we build and how.

Because we're early, you'll wear many hats and your priorities will shift as we grow. We value engineers who prioritize building features that customers love. We talk to our users often and iterate on features to ensure we're building the right things, balancing technical excellence with getting experiments out the door.

Where you'll work

This is a fully remote, work-from-anywhere role. You can be based anywhere in the world — what matters is how you work and that you can stay closely connected to a US-hours team.

Our core hours are US Eastern Time, and we collaborate with teammates across US Eastern, Pacific, Mountain, and EU time zones. Wherever you're based, we expect you to work standard US business hours — roughly 9:00am–5:00pm ET, Monday through Friday. If you can't reliably work those hours, this isn't the right fit, no matter where you are.

We're async-first and don't require relocation, travel, or in-person days.

What you'll do

• Build features end to end, from Postgres schema and Django backend through to Vue front end

• Design and implement durable, reliable workflows using Temporal

• Build and integrate AI-powered features that surface patient insights for clinicians

• Help shape our architecture, technical direction, and engineering practices as we scale

• Deploy and operate services on Google Cloud

• Collaborate closely with founders and teammates to turn product ideas into shipped software

• Build with security, privacy, and HIPAA compliance in mind as you work with sensitive patient data

• Take ownership of features and problems, not just tickets

Our stack

• Backend: Python, Django

• AI: We use different models as appropriate — most often Gemini, Opus, and GPT

• Infrastructure: Google Cloud

We use Temporal to manage our patient ingestion pipeline and orchestrate long-running jobs — the kind of complex, multi-step, stateful workflows that record retrieval demands. You don't need prior Temporal experience, but you should be excited to work with it.

How we work

We care a lot about engineering craft and about protecting the conditions that let engineers do their best work:

Strong code review and pairing. We have one of the best code review cultures we've seen, with an emphasis on pairing and solving problems together rather than in isolation. Engineers are free to dive deep on their own when they need to, or loop in the team when appropriate — we're looking for engineers who know how to balance that effort.

Strong testing culture. We love when engineers know how to balance unit versus integration tests and thrive on ensuring their code is aligned to quality, performance, test coverage, and readability standards.

Async-first, low-meeting culture. We lean on async processes wherever we can and protect focus time, because we know it's how engineers do their best work. We keep a single daily sync to stay aligned, and otherwise keep meetings to a minimum. This is a big part of why the role works fully remote.

Security and compliance are core. We're HIPAA compliant and handle protected health information every day, so we treat patient data security as a first-class engineering responsibility, not an afterthought. We expect engineers to build with privacy, security, and compliance in mind.

AI-assisted engineering. We've recently fully integrated plan- and spec-based AI engineering tooling into our process. We're excited about using AI (Claude Pro) to plan, iterate on, and build features, and we care about doing it thoughtfully — pairing AI tooling with the right harnesses to protect quality, readability, and speed.

What we're looking for

We're looking for people with high ownership, clear written and verbal communication, and real-world, practical experience shipping software.

Must-haves

• Strong experience (7+ years) building full stack web applications

• Solid Python and a backend framework (Django ideal; comparable experience fine)

• Experience with Temporal or other workflow orchestration tools

• Comfort with relational databases (Postgres ideal)

• Experience with a modern JS framework (Vue ideal; React/others fine)

• Ability to own work end to end and thrive with ambiguity

• Strong testing experience and practices

• Able and willing to work standard US business hours (roughly 9:00am–5:00pm ET, Monday–Friday), wherever you're located

• Reliable high-speed internet and a professional remote working setup

Nice-to-haves

• Google Cloud (or other cloud) experience

• Prior early-stage startup experience

• Experience in healthcare/health-tech, or working with healthcare APIs and data standards (e.g. FHIR, HL7)

• Experience building AI-powered features (e.g. LLMs, ML models, or AI APIs)

• Experience with or enthusiasm for AI-assisted engineering (see "How we work" above)

Engagement & compensation

• Engagement type: Full-time contract (independent contractor). You'll engage with us on an ongoing contract basis, invoice monthly, and be responsible for your own taxes, insurance, and any local statutory contributions.

• Contract rate: $40–$60 per hour, depending on experience and location.

• Time off: Flexible time off — we care about output and sustainable pace, not hours logged.

• AI tooling: AI tooling of your choice; team members use Claude, Cursor, CodeRabbit, and Copilot.

• Work setup: Fully remote, work from anywhere, with US Eastern Time core hours.

We include a short take-home exercise in our process — a realistic problem that lets you show how you actually work, which tells us more than a résumé does. It's optional, but completing it up front moves your application to the top of our review queue. We respect your time: it's capped at ~3 hours, uses synthetic data only, and we'll never ask for work that looks like our actual roadmap. You're welcome to use AI tooling, same as we do.
