Senior Director, Global Compensation

About the role 

As Sr. Director of Global Compensation, you will lead the design, execution, and evolution of Veeam’s global compensation framework — supporting our talent acquisition goals and strengthening employee engagement in a competitive market. 

Partnering with business leaders across the company, as well as colleagues in People Partnering, Talent Acquisition, HR Technology, Finance, and Legal, you will be our subject matter expert on compensation strategy — advising senior stakeholders on key initiatives and leading programs across compensation planning, benchmarking, job architecture, performance management, cost modeling, annual cycles, and M&A. This is not a caretaker role: we are looking for someone who challenges the status quo, brings AI and analytics into how compensation gets done, and rebuilds what needs rebuilding. 

What you’ll do 

• Develop and implement competitive compensation practices across our global workforce, including salary structures, incentive plans, and equity programs 
• Design and administer compensation programs: annual salary reviews, short- and long-term incentives, equity refreshes, and promotions 
• Keep compensation programs compliant with internal policies and federal, state, and global regulations, and lead our readiness for pay transparency rules, including the EU Pay Transparency Directive 
• Anticipate compensation risks and pay equity gaps before they surface, and put guardrails in place to prevent them 
• Model costs and impact for new or changing programs, using AI and advanced analytics in modeling, benchmarking, and program design, and set how the team applies those tools 
• Deliver data-driven compensation guidance to executives, business leaders, and HR colleagues across every region and function 
• Partner with HR Technology to maintain job architecture and compensation programs in Workday and adjacent systems 
• Lead our participation in compensation surveys, analyzing results to assess competitiveness and meet pay equity reporting requirements 
• Make compensation concepts land — build creative, non-traditional enablement for TAPs, HRBPs, managers, and employees in formats people actually use, not just slide decks and webinars 
• Manage, mentor, and develop a lean global team of compensation professionals 
• Lead compensation workstreams during mergers and acquisitions 

What you’ll bring 

• 10+ years leading compensation programs in large global technology organizations, public and private, including people management 
• Proven ability to design and implement compensation strategies for a globally dispersed workforce 
• Exceptional analytical depth — you build the models, stress-test the assumptions, and turn the output into a defensible recommendation 
• Working knowledge of AI in compensation — pay design for AI/ML and other scarce technical talent, plus hands-on use of AI tools for analytics, modeling, and reporting 
• Command of the EU Pay Transparency Directive and comparable pay equity regimes — you lead job leveling, gap reporting, and multi-country transparency readiness, not just monitor it 
• In-depth knowledge of leading global benchmark survey methodologies and practices 
• Strong judgment and attention to detail on sensitive, confidential, time-critical matters 
• Influential leadership and relationship-building skills across business and HR audiences at every level 
• Strong project management and decision-making skills; hands-on and adaptable in a fast-paced environment 
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data clearly 
• Service-minded, with credibility across all levels including executive leadership 
• Self-starter who thrives both independently and on a team 
• Experience with Workday HCM and Advanced Compensation  
• Hands-on data analytics experience: compensation models, dashboards, and reporting that drive executive decisions 
• Deep knowledge of market trends, with a strong network in the compensation community 
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related quantitative field; MS or MBA preferred

Compensation Transparency

Veeam is committed to pay transparency and equitable compensation. For this role, the compensation range below reflects the expected total target compensation (TTC), inclusive of base pay and a competitive performance-based bonus. For roles with a commission plan, the compensation range represents On Target Earnings (OTE), which includes base salary plus variable commission. When determining compensation, Veeam takes into consideration factors such as experience, education, skills, and geographic zone. Offers are typically made below the midpoint of the range.
