Senior DevOps Architect

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior DevOps Architect based in the United States.

As a Senior DevOps Architect, you will design and deliver cloud infrastructure and CI/CD solutions for clients across complex technology environments.
The role is primarily focused on Azure, with exposure to AWS for dual-cloud and AWS-native engagements.
You will build production-grade infrastructure as code, automate deployment workflows, and help engineering teams adopt modern DevOps practices.
Working directly with client teams, you will translate technical requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
You will also contribute to reusable architectures, Terraform modules, and delivery patterns that can be applied across multiple engagements.
The position combines hands-on engineering with technical consulting, mentoring, troubleshooting, and stakeholder communication.
As a senior member of the delivery team, you will have significant ownership over infrastructure quality, automation, reliability, and client outcomes.

Accountabilities:

As a Senior DevOps Architect, you will take ownership of cloud infrastructure and CI/CD engineering across client engagements while helping establish scalable DevOps practices that can be reused across environments.

• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure delivery using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or the client's preferred tooling.
• Develop and maintain Terraform modules for provisioning and managing Azure infrastructure, with additional support for AWS resources on cross-cloud engagements.
• Manage infrastructure as code across multiple client environments, including remote state, module versioning, and drift detection.
• Automate build, testing, and deployment workflows to reduce manual processes and accelerate reliable releases.
• Implement infrastructure and pipeline security practices, including secrets management, least-privilege IAM, RBAC, and policy-as-code controls.
• Monitor pipeline health and infrastructure reliability while troubleshooting issues across build, deployment, and runtime environments.
• Collaborate with development teams to containerize applications and integrate deployment workflows with Kubernetes, Azure Kubernetes Service, or equivalent platforms.
• Support developers across frontend, backend, and infrastructure layers, troubleshooting full-stack issues beyond the CI/CD pipeline itself.
• Document infrastructure architectures, pipeline configurations, reusable patterns, and operational runbooks to support client handoffs.
• Mentor client engineers and junior team members on DevOps practices, Terraform standards, and infrastructure automation.
• Present technical approaches, architecture decisions, and delivery progress to both technical and non-technical client stakeholders.
• Build trusted day-to-day relationships with client teams throughout each engagement.
• Partner with senior engineering leadership to develop repeatable DevOps patterns, reference architectures, and reusable Terraform modules.
• Take ownership of multiple client pipelines and infrastructure environments, improving reliability and reducing deployment bottlenecks.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to standardize and scale DevOps practices across engagements.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on cloud and DevOps expertise with strong consulting skills and the ability to communicate effectively with engineering teams and business stakeholders.

• 7+ years of experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, Site Reliability Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure, including Azure DevOps, Azure Resource Manager, networking, IAM, compute, and storage services.
• Working knowledge of AWS core services such as EC2, IAM, VPC, and S3.
• Proven production experience designing and maintaining Terraform infrastructure, including reusable modules and remote state management.
• Demonstrated ability to build CI/CD pipelines from the ground up rather than simply configuring existing solutions.
• Experience designing reusable infrastructure and pipeline patterns that can scale across multiple clients or environments.
• Strong scripting capabilities in at least one of Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, Azure Kubernetes Service, or comparable container orchestration technologies.
• Working knowledge across frontend, backend, and infrastructure layers, with the ability to support developers and troubleshoot full-stack technical issues.
• Understanding of infrastructure and pipeline security fundamentals, including secrets management, access control, and secure deployment practices.
• Hands-on experience using Claude Code as part of day-to-day engineering work.
• Comfortable working directly with client teams in agile delivery environments and presenting technical concepts to stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Azure certifications such as AZ-400, AZ-104, or AZ-305 are a plus.
• AWS Solutions Architect Associate or higher certification is a plus.
• HashiCorp Terraform Associate certification is a plus.
• Anthropic/Claude certification is a plus.
• Experience with policy-as-code tools such as Sentinel, OPA, or Azure Policy is desirable.
• Experience integrating SAST, dependency scanning, container scanning, or other security controls into CI/CD pipelines is desirable.
• Previous consulting or client-facing technology delivery experience is strongly beneficial.
• Ability to work remotely while accommodating working hours of approximately 8:30 AM–5:30 PM EST.
• Must be legally authorized to work for a U.S. employer without requiring employment sponsorship.
