We are currently hiring a Senior Development Director based in Irvine. The Senior Development Director will generate revenue for our Heart Challenge fundraising campaign.  This campaign includes our signature Orange County Heart and Stroke Walk event. The Senior Development Director will be supervising one Development Director.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate the American Heart Association leadership competencies and employ effective management techniques in the sourcing, recruitment, selection, supervision, management, and leadership of 1 direct report to appropriately develop and engage staff to achieve organizational objectives.
• Manages and directly implements the Heart Challenge campaign through driving to Association best practices. Directly accountable for achieving revenue goals aligned with funding research, public health, professional education and training and community services.
• Drives the ongoing process of identifying, recruiting, engaging, and activating an influential, financially strong, and volunteer leadership base to support sustained campaign growth. Builds recruitment committees and executive leadership committees to identify and engage high level event Chairs and working committees.
• Prospects, solicits, closes and stewards high-level corporate and individual donors. Develops and implements year-round cultivation plans ensuring superior donor relations.
• Provides staff support in planning, developing, implementing, growing, and evaluating campaigns and events consistent with best practices and event timelines. Provides staff support in volunteer leadership recruitment, orientation, and development.
• Collaborates as a part of the Division, Region and Association-wide team to ensure full alignment with vision and goals and provide consistent support in all aspects of fundraising and other assigned organizational initiatives.
• Ensures that team operates within appropriate operational and financial boundaries and within the financial capacity available. Operates in accordance with the Association's Fiscal Standard policies and all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and standards.
• Communicates proactively and timely with the Executive Director, and other internal and external partners. Consistently delivers on commitments made to internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• 5 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or other related experience
• University/College degree or equivalent experience
• Ability to do daily local travel and some overnight trips as needed; requires access to reliable transportation at all times on an immediate basis
• Ability to lift and/or move large objects (such as boxes) with the expectation that heavier items would be broken down into smaller components or requesting additional assistance may be required before lifting and/or moving
• Must have at least basic knowledge and skill/proficiency with Microsoft Office

• University/College degree or equivalent experience, preferred.
• Experience managing and cultivating high-level leaders at the C-Suite level.
• Knowledge of corporate and community networks.

Compensation & Benefits

• Compensation – Expected pay range will be $88,320 to $105,000 annually. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. The American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Our goal is to ensure you have a competitive base salary.  That’s why we regularly review the market value of jobs and make adjustments, as needed.
