Position Summary
We're looking for an senior-level Architect / Designer to support interior projects across our facilities - from renovations of existing athletic and event spaces to build-outs for new programming. This role works closely with the development and construction teams to move projects from concept through construction, with hands-on responsibility for concept design, drawings, and coordination. Key Responsibilities
Develop interior design concepts and space plans for interior fitout projects across Chelsea Piers facilities.
Prepare and coordinate drawings, specifications, and finish schedules using AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
Collaborate with leadership team, project managers and facility operations staff to carry design intent through to construction or to handoff to external consultants.
Research and select materials, finishes, furniture, and fixtures suited to high-traffic athletic and event environments.
Assist with project budgets, schedules, and coordination with vendors and contractors.
Maintain organized project documentation and drawing sets throughout each project phase.
Qualifications: Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field
5-7 years of relevant professional experience, ideally including interior architecture or interior design projects
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp required
Strong sense of interior design and space planning - able to turn around studies informed by site constraints, design goals and cost
Working knowledge of building codes, ADA requirements, and construction documentation standards
Strong communication and organizational skills; comfortable managing multiple projects at once
Experience with hospitality, fitness, or athletic clubs is a plus
Professional licensure (RA) or progress toward licensure is a plus, though not required at this level
The Chelsea Piers Sports & Entertainment Complex is a 28-acre sports village located between 17th & 23rd Streets along Manhattan’s Hudson River. Opened in 1995, Chelsea Piers transformed four historic, long-neglected piers into a major center for public recreation and waterfront access. Annual visitation is approximately 4.1 million.
Situated on Piers 59 through 62 and in the head house that connects them, the complex features: the Golf Club, the Chelsea Piers Fitness Club, Sky Rink, the Field House, Bowlmor, the Lighthouse, Current and Pier Sixty Event Centers, Sunset Terrace, and the Marina at Chelsea Piers.
