Summary

As a Senior Database Engineer, you will provide services for databases that support the client in production of applications, software development, and application maintenance projects.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Provide database administration to databases running on Oracle standalone and Oracle RAC on Linux / SunSolaris servers.
• Install, configure, and maintain database application with required patches and updates
• Manage database security and user permissions and privileges in accordance with application/database requirements
• Develop and/or maintain database objects (tables, views, indexes)
• Monitor and optimize database performance and tuning
• Manage and ensure compliance with database backup strategies
• Customer support to database and associated application development team, owners, and user stakeholders
• Maintain Database Lifecycle Management processes detailed by client specifications
• Provide impact information on proposed changes to application and it’s database structure
• Provide schedule and resource requirements to stakeholders concerning proposed changes to the application and associated database
• Provide sizing recommendations for any new databases or changes to existing databases, including user/data growth projection and the impact on the server memory and performance characteristics
• Participate in meetings with Solution Delivery Service staff and stakeholders
• Work with other database administrators to ensure optimal efficiency and optimization of databases, server clusters, replications, back-up strategies, and database services to the client and its customers.

Required Qualifications:

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other IT degree; Engineering, math, and/or science degrees are acceptable substitute degrees
• Minimum of 15+ years of relevant experience
• Experience in Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server database administration in an enterprise environment
• Extensive experience on Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server hosted on On-premise, AWS EC2, AWS RDS or equivalent; Experience in AWS S3, AWS Data Migration Services
• Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server database administration experience 
• Experience in Microsoft based server environments
• Experience in Database Lifecycle Management (DLM)
• Experience in Data Scrubbing, Data Masking, Data Compare and Review.
• Experience in improving Database user / systems authentication robustness.
• AWS and/or Azure experience 
• Relevant certification
• The ability to successfully obtain and maintain a U.S. Suitability/Public Trust Background Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Operating in traditional and agile project models
• Working with PTC Integrity (DLM software) is a plus
• Installation and management of Always On Availability Groups
• Setup and maintain Transparent Data Encryption and column-level encryption
• Deployment of Integration Services packages and Reporting Services reports.
• Experience with AWS RDS PostgreSQL and Aurora PostgreSQL
• DevOps toolchain services (GIT, Ansible Tower, Artifactory, Jenkins, Vault secrets management)

Salary Range

The proposed salary range for this role is $155,000 to $170,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Karsun considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance.
