ArtCenter College of Design is searching for an experienced Senior Coordinator, Operations, Designmatters, fix-term/part-time to join our team.
The salary range for this position: $35.00 - 40.00

Reporting to the Director of Operations, Interdisciplinary Studies, the Sr Coordinator supports the division’s operational activities to support the division in executing its mission. The incumbent coordinates curricular and co-curricular initiatives associated with the Designmatters minor, including workshops, lectures, and programs featuring nationally and internationally recognized speakers. The role also supports budget administration for Designmatters operations and externally funded projects, including monitoring expenditures, processing financial transactions, and maintaining accurate budget records.
This position will also provide administrative and operational support to the Designmatters Associate Chair and oversee project and logistical planning and on-site coordination for Designmatters special events.
Essential Functions
Administrative support — 95%
- Support the department as directed with office operational and administrative tasks, such as developing and maintaining project files; arranging meetings with partner organizations; keeping accurate records for external and internal contacts; and handling correspondence on behalf of the Department
- Manage logistical needs for events, including studio course recruitment, kick-offs, midterm and final events; serve as liaison for VIP guests; and support lectures, workshops, and other special events.
- Coordinate DM Minor curricular and co-curricular program activities; Oversee AV needs, room setup, catering, accessibility, guest parking, signage, and other detailed coordination
- Interface with internal and external contacts regarding Designmatters projects and day-to-day activities
- Manage departmental calendar; schedule and coordinate Associate Chair, faculty and guest departmental travel, calendar events, special events and field trips, including AV, transportation, printing, and communications
- Assist in the administration and coordination of special departmental projects, as assigned, including setting and meeting deadlines; creating work plans and status progress reports
- Write correspondence, announcements, and other communications; respond to telephone, mail, and e-mail inquiries regarding Designmatters, ensuring that requests for action or information are relayed to the appropriate person for follow-up
- Support the administration and monitoring of budget processes for Designmatters operations and externally funded projects. Responsibilities include tracking expenditures, processing check requests, invoices, and contracts, reconciling accounts, maintaining accurate budget records, and assisting with financial reporting to ensure compliance with institutional policies and funding requirements.

- Participate in college committees, work groups, or task forces as assigned
- Follow all College policies, including safety protocols

The college reserves the right to modify schedules as needed to meet the business needs with appropriate notice. May be required to work nights and weekends to staff department events.
Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions; extended periods of time viewing computer monitor; interactions with other individuals. Due to the nature of the work environment, there is regular exposure to fumes, dust and noise.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting or attend/work events; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 30 pounds); to operate modern office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. Regular and consistent attendance are required for most positions. Ability to travel to offsite locations and between campuses. Able to work nights and weekends to attend events.
Vision: Must be able to have the visual capacity to perform activities such as preparing and reading reports, viewing a computer terminal and other normal office work with or without correction.
Hearing: Must be able to communicate effectively in the course of normal office communication or exchange ideas with or without correction.

The focus is brand strategy and innovation. Students will explore the broader constructs of successful brand strategy, building, and management. Students will engage with multiple touchpoints, the audience, revenue streams, business practices, diversity and representation, leadership, management of teams, and political strategies for brand inception, adoption, and integration. In simpler terms, moving a designer from a form-maker taking orders to a chief decision-maker in the C-suite with the skills and tools to create real innovation and change.
