About the Role

Sellers Dorsey is seeking a Senior Consultant who will provide client consulting services including providing objective advice, expertise and specialized skills in the area of Medicaid financing and healthcare policy. As the Senior Consultant, you will manage a portfolio that involves financial and policy initiatives connected to supplemental payment and consulting projects contained within the Northeast region. You will provide project management services to client teams and are responsible for direct service delivery and client satisfaction for large, complex, multi-year initiatives. You will also support the Associate Director(s) and Director, and guides Consultant(s) through the project phases and client engagements. Your team management responsibilities will include setting goals, timelines, and guiding the discussion on strategies related to projects and problem solving with project leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Client Servicing:

• Perform assigned and agreed upon project tasks maintaining client satisfaction through proactive project management; takes ownership of work and produces “client-ready” deliverables with minimal supervision.

• As assigned by, an Associate Director or Director, may serve as a key client contact to respond to questions, provide required communications and be responsible for a successful client engagement.

• Manage strategic approach outlined by project team and ongoing implementation of projects.

• Generate sound solutions that meet client needs.

• Write various documents to contextualize technical information into understandable narratives.

• Depending upon specific areas of expertise, assume increasing levels of responsibility on a diverse range of projects and project tasks; develop consulting expertise that can be replicated in future projects.

• Anticipate, escalate and propose solutions for service, quality or risk issues.

• Prepare for and lead/participate in both internal team and external client meetings.

• Work with Associate Directors and Consultants concurrently and manage time effectively.

• Achieve personal performance goals across multiple projects and clients.

• Work with SMEs to understand technical and political components of project.

• Direct client questions and requests to full team and/or individual team members as appropriate.

• Set project timelines and hold team members accountable for their contributions.

• Prepare authorizing documentation required by state and federal partners encapsulate information necessary for ultimate program approval; prepare related responses for state and federal partners.

• Work with technical team so that all policy decisions are incorporated within any technical or financial documentation.

• Manage internal reports of team hours.

• Maintain and organize client deliverables and project timelines in an accessible shared drive for all team members.

• Proactively manage outcomes and anticipate client needs

Additional Responsibilities:

• Mentor and onboard new Consultants.

• Build and expand individual networks and subject matter expertise by attending stakeholder events and conferences.

• Participate in industry/professional association activities.

• Provide research and assistance towards new or expanded sales initiatives for the firm in collaboration with Associate Director, Director, Managing Director.

• In coordination with the marketing team, produce and review content for selected internal and external marketing tools, such as Firm newsletters, conference presentations, website content, and marketing webinars to highlight the Firm's capabilities, subject matter expertise and successes.

• Leverage policy and/or healthcare expertise to help Firm develop, document and communicate new solutions.

• Responsible for keeping current on the changing federal regulatory environment, learning state specific regulations to support assigned projects, and staying current on state/industry trends.

Key Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 7+ combined years in a policy management role and/or in consulting, healthcare industry required; advanced degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Public Health, Health Administration, business, economics or MBA preferred.

• 7-10 years of progressively responsible work experience is required, preferably in health or human services policy research, consulting and/or in a healthcare service delivery environment, or 5+ years of post-graduate, progressively responsible work experience in consulting or operational experience in health care and/or health policy research/analysis.

• Experience with Medicaid preferred. Relevant experience in the federal, state or private healthcare industry sector strongly desired.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint required.

Other Requirements

• Demonstrates clear writing, confident presentation and effective facilitation skills. The position requires frequent communication to senior-level clients and government officials.

• Ability to interact professionally with clients and other outside audiences.

• Experience organizing and coordinating the work of others.

• Ability to multi-task and manage several complex projects and client initiatives at once. Ability to stay focused on long term goals.

• Previous project/task management experience strongly desired; attention to detail, a must.

• Experience delivering services on several projects simultaneously.

• Time management skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required; experience in quantitative program evaluation is highly desirable.

Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated salary range for candidates is $80,000/year in our lowest geographic market range to up to $110,000/year in our highest geographic market range. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry, the candidate’s education, and the candidate’s market location. Typically, candidates are not hired near the top of the range and compensation decisions are made based upon Sellers Dorsey’s Total Compensation Policies & Guidelines. The successful candidate will also be eligible to participate in our annual Corporate Incentive Plan (CIP) that can range to up to 7% of annual salary.

Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, the successful candidate (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, and vision and for insurance plans offering short term disability, long term disability, and basic life. Employees are also able to enroll in Sellers Dorsey’s 401k plan provided they meet plan requirements. Sellers Dorsey offers a Flexible Time Off that allows employees to use what they need. Additionally, we offer 10 paid holidays throughout the calendar year, paid time off for qualifying medical leave, and up to 12 weeks of combined paid parental and bonding leave.
