Job Summary

The Senior Business Systems & Automation Architect owns the solution architecture and technology roadmap supporting Quantix Export and Drayage operations. Reporting to IT with a dotted-line relationship to Export Division Operations Leadership, this senior individual contributor translates business strategy into secure, scalable applications, integrations, automation, and analytics. The role sets divisional solution standards within enterprise IT governance, directs technical delivery across internal teams and vendors, and remains hands-on with complex designs and prototypes. Core platforms include Microsoft Power Platform, SQL/database solutions, K1 WMS, Envase TMS, and EDI/API applications. Success is measured through reliable systems, stronger operational controls, and sustained improvements in productivity, service, and cost.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Business Architecture & Technology Roadmap

• Own the current-state and target-state architecture for Export and Drayage workflows, applications, integrations, and data; maintain a prioritized, multi-year modernization roadmap.
• Partner with site teams to map packaging, warehousing, rail, yard, planning, customer service, billing, and drayage processes and identify dependencies and control gaps.
• Translate operational priorities into solution blueprints, requirements, and delivery plans; document design tradeoffs, dependencies, costs, and implementation risks for leadership decisions.
• Standardize processes across locations before automating them; define reusable solution patterns and manage exceptions through established IT governance.

Solution Architecture & Automation Delivery

• Lead end-to-end solution design and technical delivery, from discovery and prototyping through development, testing, deployment, and operational acceptance.
• Architect Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and SQL solutions; define environment strategy, access controls, data protection, and application lifecycle standards with IT.
• Establish performance, availability, scalability, and recovery requirements; review designs and critical code, resolve complex issues, and validate production readiness.
• Evaluate configuration, custom development, and vendor options against business value, maintainability, licensing, and total cost of ownership; recommend investments to IT leadership.

Systems Integration & Reliability

• Own integration architecture connecting K1 WMS, Envase TMS, customer platforms, and supporting applications, in partnership with system owners and vendors.
• Define EDI/API contracts, data mappings, authentication, validation, and error handling; design retry, reconciliation, and monitoring controls to prevent lost or duplicate transactions.
• Design dependable operational data flows for inventory, shipment status, billing, and exception management; establish clear system ownership and support responsibilities.
• Lead resolution of complex cross-system incidents and recurring defects; define recovery procedures and corrective actions that reduce operational disruption.

Data Architecture, Reporting & Analytics

• Design SQL data models and Power BI reporting structures for productivity, labor, quality, planning, inventory, equipment, billing, and customer performance.
• Establish authoritative data sources, shared KPI definitions, data quality controls, and access standards with Operations and IT to improve consistency across locations.
• Guide database performance and reporting design; provide trusted, actionable information for frontline decisions and divisional performance management.

Business Value, AI & Continuous Improvement

• Build business cases with Operations and Finance that quantify expected labor savings, cost avoidance, billing accuracy, service improvements, and implementation costs.
• Evaluate AI-enabled capabilities through controlled pilots with defined data protections, human review, accuracy criteria, and measurable operational benefit.
• Prioritize the solution portfolio by return, risk, complexity, and operational readiness; communicate investment tradeoffs and resource needs to leadership.
• Establish baseline measures and track realized results after deployment, including manual effort, cycle time, error rates, adoption, and system reliability.

Technical Leadership, Governance & Adoption

• Provide technical direction and mentoring to developers, analysts, and vendors; review deliverables against architecture, security, and acceptance standards.
• Lead phased rollout planning with Operations, including user acceptance testing, training, cutover, rollback, and support handoff across affected sites.
• Maintain architecture decisions, integration specifications, configurations, test evidence, and support procedures; manage technical debt and lifecycle risks.
• Serve as the senior technical advisor to divisional leaders; explain complex decisions clearly and escalate enterprise exceptions and funding needs to IT leadership.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Eight (8) or more years of progressive experience in business applications, automation, or integration, including at least three (3) years owning solution architecture or leading complex technical delivery.
• Demonstrated architecture and hands-on delivery expertise with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, security, and deployment lifecycle management.
• Advanced SQL and relational database skills, including data modeling, query optimization, data quality, and integration design.
• Proven experience designing production EDI/API integrations with authentication, monitoring, error recovery, and reconciliation controls.
• Successful delivery of complex, multi-system or multi-site solutions from business requirements through production support, with measurable operational results.
• Ability to evaluate architecture tradeoffs, prepare business cases and cost estimates, and apply security, reliability, and maintainability requirements.
• Demonstrated technical leadership across business teams, IT, and vendors; strong communication, mentoring, prioritization, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in logistics, transportation, warehousing, or supply chain operations preferred, particularly Export and Drayage workflows.
• Experience with K1 WMS, Envase TMS, or comparable WMS/TMS platforms preferred; relevant solution architecture or Microsoft certifications are a plus.

Special Position Requirements

• This is a remote senior individual-contributor position dedicated to Export and Drayage, with technical leadership responsibilities across projects and sites.
• Reports directly to Joe Bruknis within IT, with a dotted-line relationship to Export Division Operations Leadership.
• Requires periodic travel to Quantix Export and Drayage operating locations to learn business processes, observe workflows, support implementations, train users, and build relationships with operational teams.
• Own divisional solution design within enterprise IT standards; collaborate with IT leadership on security, shared infrastructure, architecture exceptions, and investment approvals.
• Exercise independent judgment across concurrent initiatives, balancing business value, delivery capacity, operational continuity, and long-term supportability.
• Ability to handle sensitive business, customer, employee, and system information with discretion and professionalism.
