Senior Accountant

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Accountant based in the United States.

This is a hands-on, high-impact opportunity to take ownership of the full accounting function within a rapidly scaling technology company.
You will work closely with the VP of Finance to build reliable, scalable accounting processes and strengthen the financial infrastructure supporting continued growth.
The role will oversee the monthly close, general ledger, payables, receivables, reconciliations, accruals, invoicing, and day-to-day bookkeeping.
You will also lead the annual financial statement audit and contribute to technical accounting initiatives, compliance, and internal controls.
As the organization expands, you will have the opportunity to help automate processes, implement new systems, and build an accounting function designed for scale.
The position offers a clear path toward people management, with potential responsibility for Staff Accountants and Billing Specialists.
This is a fully remote U.S. role suited to an accounting professional who enjoys ownership, problem-solving, and making a visible impact in a fast-moving environment.

Accountabilities

• Own the end-to-end accounting function, including general ledger management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, accruals, invoicing, and reconciliations.

• Lead the monthly close process from initiation through reporting, ensuring financial information is accurate, complete, and delivered on time.

• Prepare and review journal entries, bank and account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and other accounting documentation in accordance with GAAP.

• Serve as the primary contact for the annual financial statement audit, coordinating auditor requests and ensuring an efficient, well-organized process.

• Maintain and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls as the business scales.

• Manage daily bookkeeping activities using QuickBooks Online.

• Partner with the VP of Finance on technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition, equity and stock-based compensation, capitalization, and amortization.

• Support sales tax compliance and help assess and implement automation solutions as the business expands geographically.

• Design and implement scalable accounting processes, systems, and workflows that support rapid growth and increasing operational complexity.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Success, Engineering, and other teams to resolve accounting questions and improve financial processes.

• Help establish a progressively faster, cleaner, and more automated monthly close process.

• Contribute to the development of a scalable accounting organization with the potential to mentor and eventually manage junior accounting and billing professionals.

Requirements

• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including experience in a startup, technology company, or high-growth environment.

• Strong hands-on expertise with QuickBooks Online and confidence managing accounting operations directly.

• Demonstrated experience owning a complete monthly close process from start to finish.

• Previous experience leading or significantly supporting a financial statement audit, including managing auditor relationships and information requests.

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and fundamental technical accounting principles.

• Experience managing hardware and fixed-asset schedules.

• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to financial accuracy.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including advanced comfort working with large datasets in Excel.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple business functions.

• Familiarity with Ramp or comparable expense management platforms is a plus.

• Familiarity with Stripe or similar billing and payment-processing platforms is a plus.

• Experience with sales tax automation platforms such as Avalara, Anrok, or Numeral is advantageous.

• CPA certification or active CPA candidacy is preferred.

• Experience with SaaS or subscription-based revenue models is a plus.

• Previous experience mentoring or managing junior accounting professionals is beneficial.

• Exposure to FP&A and experience supporting management with analytical projects is an advantage.

• A proactive, process-oriented mindset with the ability to identify opportunities for automation and operational improvement.
