Senior Accountant – Corporate Tax

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Accountant – Corporate Tax based in United States.

This is a remote senior tax accounting opportunity supporting a broad corporate tax function within a complex financial services environment.
The role focuses primarily on state tax compliance, audits, notices, and tax accounting while also contributing to federal and international tax activities.
You will prepare and review tax workpapers, returns, calculations, reconciliations, and income tax provisions under ASC 740.
The position also offers the opportunity to contribute to tax technology, automation, data analytics, and process improvement initiatives.
You will collaborate regularly with internal stakeholders, external auditors, tax authorities, and other business partners.
The role suits a detail-oriented tax professional who can independently research complex requirements and translate them into practical solutions.

Accountabilities

• Support state tax compliance activities, including preparing and reviewing workpapers, calculations, forms, returns, extensions, and estimated payments.

• Assist with state tax audits, coordinate responses to auditor requests, and help resolve moderate to complex tax matters and governmental notices.

• Research and interpret federal and state tax regulations and assess the tax implications of moderately complex business and financial transactions.

• Review federal and state income tax returns, including consolidated and combined returns, as well as state apportionment and allocation calculations.

• Prepare and support quarterly and annual income tax provisions and related financial statement disclosures and internal reporting under ASC 740 and FIN 48.

• Perform tax account reconciliations and provide tax consulting support in response to internal business needs.

• Contribute to tax technology, automation, data analytics, and process improvement initiatives designed to improve efficiency and accuracy.

• Collaborate with internal functional teams, external clients, auditors, and other stakeholders to resolve tax issues and accomplish shared objectives.

• Lead defined tax projects when appropriate and provide guidance and knowledge-sharing to colleagues.

• Maintain accurate documentation and apply established tax processes, accounting principles, and reporting requirements consistently.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required.

• At least 3 years of experience in tax accounting and compliance, preferably including experience in a public accounting environment.

• Experience with federal and state tax compliance, state audits, tax planning, apportionment, sourcing, and tax research.

• Working knowledge of tax accounting and reporting concepts, including FASB 109, ASC 740, and FIN 48 / ASC 740-10.

• Experience reviewing tax returns, workpapers, financial documents, and tax calculations with strong attention to accuracy and detail.

• Familiarity with OneSource Tax Software or comparable tax technology is beneficial.

• Experience with AI-enabled productivity tools such as ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot, as well as tax technology, automation, data analytics, and process improvement.

• Ability to research, interpret, and apply complex IRS and state rules, regulations, and requirements.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve moderate tax issues.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain tax rules and requirements to stakeholders at different organizational levels.

• Ability to manage detailed transactional work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities, interruptions, and deadlines.

• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships across functional teams.

• A Master’s degree in Accounting or Tax is preferred.

• Experience in banking, finance, or securities industry operations is beneficial.

• The role is remote within the United States, with occasional travel to corporate headquarters in St. Petersburg, Florida; travel is expected to be less than 25%.

• Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training may be considered where approved by Human Resources.
