Job Description

About Newton Street

At Newton Street, our mission is to connect people and ideas that change the world.

We are a women-led strategic communications firm advising global health organizations, philanthropies, high-profile individuals, family offices, for-profit companies, and social impact organizations tackling the most complex issues of our time.

We help our partners shape narratives, elevate ideas, and spark action that drives meaningful change on a global scale.

Our team is collaborative and values-driven, guided by integrity, kindness, curiosity, and a commitment to excellence.

Role Snapshot – Strategic Communications for Social Impact

We’re seeking a Senior Account Executive to help manage day-to-day client work and support strategic communications programs for social-impact organizations.

This is an ideal role for a communications professional who is highly organized, proactive, thoughtful, and energized by work that contributes to positive social change. You’ll help translate strategy into execution — drafting strong materials, managing workstreams, supporting client relationships, coordinating across internal teams, and contributing to media, digital, and social communications efforts.

This is not a marketing, advertising, or sales role. It is a strategic communications role for someone who enjoys working closely with clients, keeping projects moving, communicating clearly, and ensuring no important details fall through the cracks. The ideal candidate brings experience supporting digital and/or social media communications, including social content development, executive visibility, digital campaigns, analytics, or owned-channel content.

Because much of our work is confidential and trusted, we’re looking for someone with strong judgment, high integrity, who is proactive and has a deep sense of responsibility.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a reliable day-to-day partner to clients and internal teams, helping manage relationships with responsiveness, clarity, professionalism, and care.
  • Support the development and execution of strategic communications programs, including communications plans, media strategies, digital campaigns, social media strategies, and owned-channel communications.
  • Translate client priorities, editorial themes, and audience insights into clear content strategies, social media plans, and client-ready recommendations.
  • Draft and edit high-quality communications materials, including messaging, talking points, briefing documents, articles, social media posts, LinkedIn and executive thought leadership content, newsletters, website copy, email content, and other client-ready materials.
  • Develop and manage digital and social media content calendars, including coordinating inputs, tracking client review processes, managing deadlines, and ensuring content reflects the client’s voice, style guide, and strategic goals.
  • Support social media execution across platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, including preparing posts for publication, monitoring engagement, and flagging opportunities or issues for response.
  • Support media outreach, story development, thought leadership efforts, executive visibility opportunities, and preparation for meetings, events, interviews, and other public-facing moments.
  • Track and analyze social and digital media performance, identifying trends and helping develop recommendations that strengthen audience engagement and client impact.
  • Project manage specific lanes of work, including timelines, deadlines, next steps, client requests, and coordination across team members so that questions, opportunities, and deliverables do not fall between the cracks.
  • Staff and help manage external events for clients, including supporting preparation, logistics, materials, follow-up, and related communications needs.
  • Exercise sound judgment about when to bring in senior team members for counsel, approvals, issue resolution, or potential client delays.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure work is thoughtful, well-organized, strategically aligned, and delivered with excellence.
  • Contribute proactive ideas that strengthen client impact, improve audience engagement, and help evolve Newton Street’s digital, social, and strategic communications offerings.

Client Sectors You Could Support

  • Global Health
  • Women’s Health
  • Climate, Environment, and Agricultural Development
  • Economic Opportunity
  • AI for Social Good
  • Philanthropy & Social Impact

What You’ll Bring

  • 3+ years of progressive professional experience in communications, public relations, strategic communications, journalism, digital communications, social media, nonprofit communications, or a related field.
  • Required experience supporting digital and/or social media communications, such as social content writing, content calendars, LinkedIn or executive thought leadership, digital campaigns, community engagement, website content, email, or newsletter communications.
  • Experience translating client priorities, editorial themes, and brand voice into social media strategies, content plans, and platform-specific recommendations.
  • Experience developing and executing both planned and reactive social media content across platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, including familiarity with formats such as Reels, video, and other emerging content types.
  • Experience using social media scheduling, publishing, monitoring, and analytics tools, such as Sprout Social, Brandwatch, or similar platforms.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear, polished, persuasive materials that follow style guides, reflect client voice and anticipate client feedback.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including experience managing content calendars, client review processes, multiple priorities, and follow-up in a dynamic, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to analyze digital and social media performance, quantify results over time, use relevant benchmarks, and make proactive recommendations to improve audience engagement and strategic impact.
  • Comfort working directly with clients and representing an organization with professionalism, warmth, and confidence.
  • Understanding of media, digital communications, external communications trends, and how different channels can advance strategic goals.
  • Curiosity about one or more of Newton Street’s core issue areas, including global health, women’s health, mental health, economic opportunity, climate, philanthropy, or social impact.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and sound judgment.
  • A proactive, flexible, and solutions-oriented approach to new challenges.
  • Comfort with technology, remote collaboration, and tools that help teams work efficiently.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.

Bonus Points

  • Existing media relationships or experience supporting earned media outreach.
  • Experience working with foundations, philanthropies, nonprofits, or social impact organizations.
  • Experience supporting communications for global health, philanthropy, climate, economic opportunity, policy, or other social impact issue areas.
  • Experience translating complex or technical subject matter into clear, accessible content for public audiences.
  • Experience staffing events, executive briefings, media opportunities, or client convenings.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary: $75,000–$100,000. The actual salary offered will vary depending on candidate qualifications, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal pay equity.
  • Comprehensive benefits: medical, dental, vision, disability, accidental death & dismemberment insurance, and retirement plan.
  • Generous paid time off and holidays — including a year-end paid break.
  • Fully remote, U.S.-based work environment.
  • A culture where your voice matters and your impact is visible.

Equal Opportunity

Newton Street is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all team members.
