Security Officer - Part Time

In this role you will be:

• Perform all duties of the Safety & Security Officer, including patrols, lock/unlock schedules, parking lot surveillance, internal code response, vehicle assistance, and morgue release coordination.
• Carry and responsibly operate firearm, taser, baton, and handcuffs in accordance with IRMC policy and Pennsylvania law.
• Exercise rational decision-making and sound judgment in all security operations, especially during high-risk or rapidly evolving situations.
• Respond to violent, combative, or potentially dangerous individuals using approved de-escalation and use-of-force protocols.
• Provide armed support during critical incidents, including threats to staff, active violence, or law enforcement emergencies.
• Assist law enforcement with investigations, evidence preservation, and secure scene management.
• Maintain weapons proficiency, complete required firearms training, and participate in regular skills validation.
• Conduct campus-wide investigations involving accidents, thefts, suspicious activity, or safety hazards.
• Prepare detailed incident reports and documentation related to armed interventions or elevated-risk events.
• Support emergency preparedness, disaster response, and critical incident management.
• Promote professional, respectful, and customer-focused interactions at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• EDUCATION: High school graduate or GED equivalent
• EXPERIENCE: Previous safety/security experience preferred; armed security or law enforcement experience strongly preferred
• LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
  • Valid PA driver’s license
  • PA ACT 235 or PA ACT 120 (with PA ACT 235 waiver)
  • BLS required or obtained within 1 month of hire
