The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe environment through regular patrols, monitoring, and emergency response. They must also ensure accurate and detailed documentation of all security activities, incidents, and observations.

General Description:
The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, guests, customers, and employees through patrol, monitoring, emergency response, access control, and professional security presence. The position requires sound judgment, situational awareness, and timely, accurate, complete, and detailed documentation of security activities, incidents, hazards, observations, and responses.
Essential Functions:
• Maintain safe practices on campus and identify, report, and respond to security or safety concerns.
• Conduct interior and exterior patrols of CALV and NPI property, including buildings, doors, entrances, exits, parking areas, and common areas; observe for suspicious behavior, vandalism, theft, hazards, unauthorized access, or other criminal activity.
• Respond to medical emergencies, provide basic first aid within training, and request emergency medical resources when required.
• Greet guests professionally, announce visitors when needed, assist with access control, and escort trespassing individuals from the property when necessary.
• Ensure driver checklists are completed and filed with Security; sign vehicle keys in and out and maintain required vehicle documentation.
• Maintain custody of assigned security phones, radios, and other equipment while on duty and respond promptly to calls for service.
• Complete all required security documentation, including Daily Activity Reports (DARs), incident reports, accident/injury reports, maintenance reports, patrol records, vehicle records, and designated TrackTik reporting-system entries.
• Document reportable events as soon as practical and, whenever possible, before the end of the assigned shift. Reports must be factual, objective, chronological, accurate, complete, and sufficiently detailed for an authorized reviewer to understand what occurred, what actions were taken, and the outcome.
• Clearly distinguish direct observations from information provided by witnesses or other parties. Accurately document relevant dates, times, locations, persons involved, statements, actions taken, notifications, evidence, disposition, and required follow-up. Do not speculate, exaggerate, falsify information, knowingly enter inaccurate information, or intentionally omit material facts.
• Promptly report discovered documentation errors or omissions to Security Leadership and make corrections in accordance with departmental procedures.
• Exercise independent judgment and discretion in routine and non-routine situations while maintaining professionalism, mental alertness, attention to detail, and calm under pressure.
• Be available for varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional extended hours based on operational or emergency needs; perform other duties as assigned.
Reporting & Documentation Standards:
Security reports, patrol logs, incident records, and related documentation are official organizational records and a core responsibility of this position. Accurate, complete, timely, detailed, and truthful reporting is an essential job-performance expectation. Documentation must provide enough information to support supervisory, administrative, investigative, safety, insurance, or law-enforcement review when applicable. Repeated failure to complete required documentation, repeated materially incomplete or inaccurate reporting, intentional omission of material information, or falsification of security records may result in corrective action in accordance with CALV policy and applicable law.
Confidentiality & Information Handling:
Maintains strict confidentiality of security incidents, investigations, reports, employee or student information, surveillance activities, access-control information, and other sensitive organizational matters. Shares information only with authorized individuals and reports concerns through the appropriate chain of command in accordance with organizational policies.
