Job SummaryEllis Home & Garden at 2260 Bert Kouns in Shreveport, LA is now accepting applications for a Seasonal Greenhouse/Sales Associate. This position will help operate our store on a day-to-day basis. Ellis Home & Garden is a family-owned and operated business that offers flexible scheduling, a family-oriented atmosphere, and a great working environment.
Responsibilities and DutiesThis position will combine working in our Greenhouse and being a Sales Associate. Greenhouse Associates are responsible for greeting customers, watering plants, taking care of the plants, unloading delivery trucks, helping customers with plant purchases, answering phone calls, and any other assigned duties. The Sales Associates work throughout the store; duties include helping customers with purchases, cleaning, stocking and any other assigned duties.
Qualifications and Skills
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Some college preferred
- Lifting 50+/- pounds periodically
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions periodically
- Computer proficiency required
- Retail point of sale experience preferred
- Cash handling experience
- Plant knowledge preferred, but not required (we will train you!)
- Must be available Nights & Weekends
- Must be 18 years of age
Pay determined by experience: starting at $10.00 per hour

However, now a days things have changed quite dramatically with Ellis extending its product reach into all different aspects of Home Decor and Gardening. Ellis Home and Garden has been in business over 30 years beginning in Bossier City, La and eventually expanding into East Texas with a total of five retail locations. The Ellis' travel overseas twice a year to find just the right product for each season, typically trying to find the most unique and upcoming trends which is why our product mix is so unique.
Ellis has one of the most impressive greenhouse operations around, showing all types of product, from tropicals out of California to annuals and shrubs grown locally. Ellis also carries many seasonal items in the greenhouse from fresh cut pumpkins in the Fall to beautiful red poinsettias during Christmas.
Ellis' interior decorations are some of the best around. Ellis prides their stores on not only having a unique product selection, but also showing its customers how to best use this product with intricate displays throughout the entire store. We also have a huge selection in framed artwork, florals, giftware, ribbon, and candles including Yankee Candles and Circle 'E' Candles. However it is truly our seasonal departments that set us apart from the norm, especially our Christmas Shops!
