Seasonal Driver

Job Details: Job Location: PMC-VA Peninsula Corps - Newport News, VA, Salary Range: Undisclosed, Schedule/Hours: Seasonal; schedule and weekly hours as assigned. 

This position is responsible for: 

Drives a Salvation Army vehicle to transport passengers and Red Kettle equipment to bell-ringing locations and to pick up and deliver Angel Tree donations and other items as needed. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Provides transportation for bell ringers to kettle sites and the Corps. 

Picks up Angel Tree donations from various sites for transport to the warehouse and delivers miscellaneous items as needed. 

Drives carefully and complies with traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure passenger safety; parks safely and secures the vehicle when not in use. 

Fuels the vehicle in accordance with state regulations and The Salvation Army standards and maintains accurate mileage logs. 

Arrives at destinations according to schedule, communicates severe delays, and maintains control of passenger activities to promote safe conduct. 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: 

Ability to meet attendance requirements; read, write, and communicate in English; and drive a vehicle in heavy traffic and on extended trips. Work involves driving in varying weather conditions, including rain, cold, snow, and heat, and may involve long-distance trips or heavy traffic.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:

High School Diploma or G.E.D. AND 

Two years’ experience operating an automotive vehicle OR 

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. 

Licenses and Certifications: 

Valid State Driver’s License 
Medical certificate 
Must meet all applicable DOT requirements for vehicles associated with this position at all times.
