SE Environmental Health & Safety Aide

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:          Assist Faculty and Staff in the Arts and Sciences (Chemistry, Biology, and Physics) to ensure safe practices, inspect safety equipment and correct deficiencies found in studios, and research & teaching laboratories.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

1.         Label secondary chemical containers with appropriate labeling. Assist in maintaining chemical inventories. 

2.         Conduct periodic inspections of safety equipment (eyewashes, chemical fume hoods, etc.).

3.         Assist researchers in preparation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

4.         Conduct safety inspections within laboratories and studio using checklists.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong science background and familiarity with laboratory environments.

Pay Grade: SP Student 3, starting at $14.45/hour
